Our staff is built to teach each student individually, to develop the skills they need to thrive in mathematics, and to foster a love of learning.

Sarah Hoffman

Assistant Director

Sarah holds bachelor’s degrees in Mathematics, Secondary Education, and Dance Pedagogy from Wilkes University. She brings a vibrant passion for both math and teaching to the Annapolis center, where she helps students explore the beauty and creativity of math.

Sarah is also a professional ballerina with the Ballet Theatre of Maryland. When she’s not at the barre or the whiteboard, she enjoys painting, sewing, and board games. She loves making math fun, mesmerizing, and approachable for every student.

Talika Tull

Assistant Director

Talika discovered her love for math through tutoring her peers in high school and now shares that excitement every day at Mathnasium. As an Assistant Director, she brings energy and empathy to every session, helping students overcome challenges and enjoy learning.

Outside of the center, Talika spends her time crocheting plushies and caring for her beloved pet chickens and geese. She loves blending creativity and curiosity both in math and in life.

Miles Dougherty

Lead Instructor

My name is Miles and I am one of the Lead Instructors at Mathnasium of Annapolis. I started working here about a year ago because I wanted to work somewhere that I could do lots of math. In my free time, I like playing the piano or guitar. On clear nights, I like going out and seeing what constellations I can find. I am currently in college getting my bachelors in astronomy and I will hopefully get my masters after that.

Robbie Wagner

Lead Instructor

I started at Mathnasium as a student in December of 2017 and began excelling shortly after. In July of 2022 I became an instructor and have enjoyed every moment ofsince. I enjoy teaching math and seeing faces bright up as students grow more confident. When I am not at school or instructing, you can find me volunteering as a firefighter/emt at Woodland Beach Volunteer fire department. I also study and report severe weather as a National weather service field spotter.

Anthony Spinelli

Lead Instructor

Anthony is a Lead Instructor and student at the University of Maryland, where he studies Math and Computer Science. He’s been with Mathnasium for over three years and also teaches online instruction.

His interests include solving math problems, working out, playing chess, and hanging out with friends. Long-term, Anthony hopes to pursue a Master’s degree and contribute to the development of general artificial intelligence—or even solve the Collatz Conjecture.

Brian Meyer

Lead Instructor

Brian has been part of the Mathnasium team since 2016 and is a middle school math teacher in Montgomery County with nearly two decades of classroom experience. He brings patience, humor, and deep content knowledge to every lesson.

Finley Stokes

Instructor

My name is Finley and I am an instructor at Mathnasium. I am relatively new and joined in September of 2024. I am currently a sophomore in high school and the reason why I work here is because I love math and I love teaching so this seems like the perfect job for me. I want to go to an Icy League college and hopefully become a banker or lawyer from there. I like to play soccer and one interesting thing about me is that I was born in Manhattan, New York.

Isabel Damian

Instructor
Hi! I first started my journey with Mathnasium in September 2017 as a student. In August 2023 I became an instructor after a lot of suggestion by the directors. My love for math started during my time as a student at Mathnasium and only continued to grow as I became more confident in math thanks to Mathnasium! Watching how the instructors helped me out when I was a student ultimately inspired me to become an instructor. I am planning to major in biology and dental hygiene and later go into dental school but my real dream is to have my own farm with many animals, especially a highland cow! When not doing math I am hanging out with friends and family, dancing as a student performer at Ballet Theatre of Maryland, Figure Skating with Annapolis Skating Club, or helping out in the costume department for my school’s theater program.

Jette Ramsay

Math Beast

Hello! My name is Jette. I am a Math Beast at Mathnasium and have worked here since March of 2023, but I started here as a student in 2018! I will soon be going to Salisbury University with a major in Mathematics and a minor in art. In my free time I love drawing, playing mind games, and brain teasers.

Liz Clickner

Instructor
Hi, I'm Liz and I recently joined the Annapolis Mathnasium as an instructor. I taught for over 15 years in the county school system. I started at Mathnasium because I love teaching and inspiring students to master the math concepts in their everyday lives! In my spare time, I love to garden and take walks in the woods with my husband.

Marcel Peyton

Instructor

Finding out what your calling is in your life is an interesting journey. At first I thought it was gaming and I spent countless hours reaching the top 1% of players in North America in League of Legends. Then I got m first job delivering packages for Amazon, and I realized I really enjoy providing a service and brightening someones day. I went back to my hobby and started coaching people on the game. I'll never forget some of my students. It has been a pleasant transfer to teaching math. Teaching has always been an intriguing challenge which has kept my attention far more than learning for myself. I am excited for the next day!

Michael Daily

Instructor
Hi, my name is Michael Daily. I have been an instructor at Mathnasium of Annapolis since January 2024. I have a long history of working with children and my time here has allowed me to share my passion for math as well. I have an associate's degree in mathematics and am pursuing a Bachelor's degree in business. When I'm not in the center, I am in the hills or mountains, skiing or hiking.

Nate Hardesty

Instructor

Hello, my name is Nate Hardesty. I have been an Instructor at Mathnasium for 4 months now. I am currently enrolled in Anne Arundel Community College as a nursing major. I started working at Mathnasium because I enjoy helping kids understand and helping them to learn to like math. My favorite hobby is snowboarding and I have been to 5 countries outside of the U.S. My future goals are to be a flight nurse and to land a backflip on a snowboard!

Penelope Lasell

Instructor

I am a high schooler who loves playing soccer, doing art, and helping others. I have been babysitting my whole life and love helping the kids at Mathnasium! I also love helping the environment through clothing. I run an exchange program at my school where people can give away clothes and get clothes. My goal is to become a teacher to help so many more kids learn.

Our Mathnasium Mission

Teach children math so they understand it, master it, and love it. Math can change their lives, and they can change the world.
