I have a strong passion for teaching and working with children. During high school, I spent a summer teaching kids from kindergarten to 2nd grade, and I’ve also tutored my two younger brothers. I love working at Mathnasium because it allows me to inspire and support students in their math journeys. I believe there’s a significant education disparity in NYC, and I’m dedicated to making a positive impact in my community. It’s a rewarding experience to help bridge that gap and empower students to succeed!

During high school, I had the opportunity to work as a tutor at Mathnasium, where I supported students in all levels of math. Hi, my name is Chriss! Throughout my life I’ve studied music and art, eventually graduating with a bachelor’s in Psychology. I’ve always considered myself an educator as it’s been my interests and dream since I was young. I used my new found skills and knowledge to help implement better instructional sessions beyond just my friends and family. Every job that I’ve worked at learning centers has been so rewarding, and ultimately led me to my occupation today.
I have been working with students of all ages in mathematics unofficially since my middle school days and professionally for 8 years! My goal is to help all my students along in their educational journey and make them feel more comfortable not only in math (my specialty!) but also in their learning experience. It’s my mission to ensure that students not only garner a deeper understanding of math, but feel confident in themselves so that they can carry that pride and accomplishment throughout their academic careers.
Hello, my name is Gabriel Buxo! I am a senior at Brooklyn College studying Computer Science and Math. Growing up, I had great math teachers who answered my questions, inspired my fascination in the subject, and helped me develop confidence in myself. These amazing mentors made me realize the impact a great teacher can have. The support I got in math also translated into high scores on my regents exams, my SAT(770/800 in math), and 5/5s on my AP Calc AB and BC tests. I grew up helping my little brother with his homework and my classmates with their schoolwork during after-school tutoring. More recently, I got experience teaching campers gymnastics at Ramapo Day Camp. Helping students flourish in the face of adversity, and inspiring the next generation to love math is what makes working with kids so rewarding.
