Matthew B

Lead Instructor
Aspen is a Middle Grades Education major at the University of North Georgia who moved here last year from Utah. In her free time, she enjoys painting and skating. In five years she sees herself starting her teaching career. Aspen loves Mathnasium because, "I get to help kids understand math and see when it clicks for them and they get excited about learning." Favorite Math Joke: "Parallel lines have so much in common. Too bad they'll never meet."

Elizabeth is studying Risk Management and Insurance at the University of Georgia, where she participates in UGA Miracle and Sigma Kappa Sorority. She enjoys playing tennis in her free time and has two standard poodles. She loves math because "it answers so many questions in everyday life whether we realize it or not. Math is also a universal language. No matter where you are in the world, math does not change." Favorite Math Joke: "Why was 6 afraid of 7? Because 7 ate 9!"

Jack is a senior at North Oconee High School, where he participates in Math Team, Robotics, Academic Team, Model UN, and many other extracurriculars. He hopes to one day pursue a degree in engineering, and says that he enjoys "finding unique ways to solve problems."

Lead Instructor
Micah is studying Mathematics at the University of Georgia and loves seeing how math's problem-solving skills apply to everyday life. He loves Mathnasium because "Mathnasium's individualized approach helps students where they need help." He enjoys cycling in his free time. Favorite Math Joke: "Why was the equal sign so humble? He knew he wasn’t greater than or less than anyone else."

Connor is a gifted senior at North Oconee High School where he is on the Robotics Team and in BETA Club. In his free time he enjoys weightlifting and experimenting with 3D printing, and he loves math because, "every math problem has multiple approaches. Math can be so much more expressive than other subjects because you create your own path to the solution." His favorite math joke? "Q: What do you call a bear that doesn’t use Cartesian coordinates? A: A polar bear". Most importantly, Connor says he loves Mathnasium because, "I feel like I am benefiting others every time I come in to work."

Matt Dalthorp

Center Director
Matt graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 2017 with a B.A. in Economics. He began working as an instructor at the Mathnasium of Norman, Oklahoma in the summer of 2018, moving up to Assistant Director in May 2020. He worked in Norman until July 2023, when he and his wife, Hannah, moved to Athens, where he started as Center Director for Mathnasium of Athens. Matt loves getting the opportunity at Mathnasium to work with students from many different backgrounds, each with their own strengths and personalities, and finding the ways to help math make sense to them. He is constantly excited to work with the Mathnasium team to create a fun, positive, learning-focused environment where kids can feel confident about math. In his free time, Matt enjoys playing, studying, and teaching chess. He loves listening to classical music, and likes playing piano and writing music as well. On Saturdays, though, you'll find him and his wife rooting for their OU Sooner football team (and maybe also their adoptive Dawgs).

Anyi is a senior at North Oconee High School, where he participates in the Math Team, Academic Team, Robotics, and several other extracurriculars. He especially enjoys coding, robotics, and working out. He loves math because "it is an elegant, logical way of thinking that can be applied to many challenges in our lives."

Our Mathnasium Mission

Teach children math so they understand it, master it, and love it. Math can change their lives, and they can change the world.

What I love about Mathnasium is the ability to teach problem-solving skills and make math make sense, while also making a student smile.
