Our staff is built to teach each student individually, to develop the skills they need to thrive in mathematics, and to foster a love of learning.

James

Assistant Center Director

James has been a valued member of the Mathnasium team for over five years. He brings strong mathematical skills and excels in working with high school students, as well as showing remarkable patience with younger learners.  

His ability to adapt to each student's needs makes him a key part of the instructional team. Outside of Mathnasium, James is an Eagle Scout and a former gymnast, experiences that reflect his discipline and commitment to growth. He enjoys helping students succeed and find confidence in math at every level.

Laura

Instructor

Laura is an amazing new instructor in our center. She has a full time job as a genetic counselor, and works for us in her spare time. Laura was born in Honduras and lived there until she was 10 years old, so she is fluent in Spanish. She did her undergrad at Indiana University Bloomington. Her degree is in Chemistry, but she took lots and lots of Math classes, just for fun. 

Laura has experience teaching pre-school, and previously tutored math as well.  

In her free time, Laura enjoys Ultimate Frisbee, and loves hiking with her dog. She recently got married and is looking forward to an amazing destination wedding festivity this summer 

Tony

Instructor

Tony recently graduated from IUPUI with a degree in Math Education. He is teaching Algebra 2 and Geometry at Ben Davis High School. Tony's passion for teaching shows through whether he is working with our high school students, or helping our youngest learners. 

Outside of the classroom, Tony loves sports of all kinds, and has shared this love of sport through coaching baseball. Tony's dedication to teaching, learning, and also to fun make him an amazing Mathnasium instructor.

Janet

Instructor

Janet is a retired middle school math teacher. After a long career helping middle school students progress in mathematics, Janet recently retired, but missed working with students. 

Janet is balancing spending time with her grandbaby to spend time with our students too. She is an amazing instructor, and brings a real spark to our center!

Ty

Instructor

Ty attends Avon High School and is a former Mathnasium student. His experience learning the Mathnasium way gives him valuable insight as an instructor. Ty is especially effective with younger students, guiding them through math concepts with patience and encouragement.   

His familiarity with Mathnasium’s approach allows him to connect with students and help them build a solid understanding of math. Ty enjoys being part of the team and looks forward to helping others succeed the same way he did.

Akili

Instructor

Akili has been a classroom teacher for about twenty years. She is currently teaching Algebra 1 online at Indiana Digital Learning School. She graduated with a degree in Math and Chemistry from Angelo State University in Texas, and has a Masters in Teacher Leadership from IWU.

Outside of the classroom Akili is a mother of two teenagers, and two cats. She loves spending time with her family and volunteering with her church.

Abdullah

Instructor

Abdullah is currently a student at Avon High School with interests in math, computer programming, and engineering. He also plays soccer and brings a focused, team-oriented mindset to his role at Mathnasium. Abdullah enjoys helping students explore new math concepts and build confidence through practice and guidance.  

His enthusiasm for STEM subjects and problem-solving makes him a valuable part of the instructional team. Abdullah looks forward to helping students grow and develop strong math skills for the future.

Kendall

Instructor

Kendall is recent graduate of UIndy. Her degree is in math education, and she has with a passion for learning, and a drive to become a fabulous teacher. Kendall is now a full time teacher, and has worked in both middle and high school settings.

Kendall has significant experience working with children both inside and outside the classroom. Kendall's quiet caring manner makes her a fabulous instructor!

Toree

Instructor

Toree is a current student at Danville High School. She has always had a passion for math and understanding things from a deep number sense. She is a swimmer on the high school team, and also plays clarinet in the band. 

Toree hopes to be accepted into Rose Hulman and plans to be an engineer after graduation!

Caleb

Instructor

Caleb is a recent Brownsburg High School graduate. Caleb was born in Ireland and lived there until he was six. He also spent a year living in Japan as a teenager. These international experiences help him relate to our many international students. His math skills are top notch, and his sense of humor brings the fun to life in our center. 

Caleb is nationally ranked in bowling, and has also been a member of the boys volleyball team. He plans to spend the next year with us at Mathnasium and also coaching his high school bowling team, before beginning a career in the military.

Jashan

Instructor

Jashan is currently Plainfield high school student. His strong math skills and previous tutoring experience make him a strong new member of our team. Jashan hopes to attend IU and major in business after graduation.  

Outside of the classroom, Jashan plays on a club basketball team. Jashan's strong interest in helping kids shows through as he teaches.

Olivia

Instructor

Olivia is a current student at Avon High School. After graduation she dreams of becoming either a teacher or an aerospace engineer. Olivia's goal is to experience more of what the world has to offer, and hopes to attend Munich Technical University in Germany for college.

Olivia's calm and quiet ways bring calm to the center, while her sense of fun draws kids in. She is a valuable new member of our team.

Gray

Instructor

Gray is a current student at Purdue University studying Actuary Science. Math is a lifelong passion for Gray, and teaching is one of the possible careers that they may pursue. They want to show others how much fun math is too.

Outside of work, Gray loves attending rock concerts as often as possible. When asked about other hobbies, Gray replied, "I have 3 cats. I like playing Minecraft. I enjoy gardening."
