At the heart of the Mathnasium of Balboa is Jasmine Melvin, our dedicated Center Director. With 3 years of experience at Mathnasium, she brings a wealth of knowledge and a genuine passion for helping students build confidence and understanding in math. As a mother of three—two daughters and a son—and the owner of 'What the French Toast,' Jasmine is a dynamic individual who understands the importance of both education and community. She believes in creating a supportive and encouraging environment where students feel empowered to learn and grow. When she's not at Mathnasium, you can find her enjoying the sunshine, relaxing by the water, or exploring new restaurants with her family. Jasmine's commitment to her students' success is unwavering, and she strives to make math engaging and accessible for everyone.
A passionate educator with a strong foundation in mathematics, Colby is a former high school math teacher at Deering High School in Portland, Maine. After earning a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics and Education from Montana State University in Bozeman, Colby dedicated their career to helping students build confidence and curiosity in math. Here at Mathnasium he is in charge of student instruction and lesson planning to ensure every student is achieving their goals.
With a deep belief that learning should be both meaningful and enjoyable, Colby is known for using innovative, student-centered approaches to make math engaging and accessible. Whether through hands-on activities or creative problem-solving strategies, his teaching always centers on helping students see the beauty and relevance of math in everyday life.
At the heart of Colby’s work is a desire to foster a lifelong love for mathematics in every student at Mathnasium.
You'll typically see Karisma hangout around the center working hard! Making sure she brings creativity, and a whole lot of heart to the Mathnasium team as our Sales and Marketing! Currently a student at San Diego State University, Karisma has a lifelong passion for working with kids. From tutoring through the GRITT program in high school to supporting students in various educational programs, they’ve always been dedicated to helping young learners thrive.
Whether she's welcoming new families, organizing community outreach, or playing math games with students, Karisma helps make Mathnasium a place where learning feels like play and everyone feels like part of the family.
