Michael Pearson

Assistant Center Director

Mike brings over 20 years of experience as an engineer and an additional 10 years as a classroom teacher to his role at Mathnasium. He has taught math from Pre-Algebra through Calculus II and has also supported students through online tutoring. Mike is both an enthusiastic educator and a highly experienced one.

With a teaching philosophy centered on meeting each student exactly where they are, Mike excels at helping young learners grow confidently along their math journey. He loves seeing that “lightbulb moment” when a concept clicks and is dedicated to making those moments happen for every student he works with.


Francisco J. Sepulveda

Lead Instructor

Francisco’s teaching philosophy is rooted in the belief that all students can succeed in mathematics when provided with clear instruction, a structured learning environment, and consistent support. With over 15 years of tutoring experience—ranging from elementary math to advanced high school courses, as well as college-level mathematics and physics—he brings a deep and well-rounded understanding of the subject.

Francisco is dedicated to helping students build both academic skills and confidence. He believes that effective teaching combines strong content knowledge, purposeful instruction, and a supportive environment where students feel respected, motivated, and encouraged to actively engage in their learning.


Jamie Layne Mitchell

Instructor

Jamie brings a strong background in education and mathematics to Mathnasium. She currently works as an assistant teacher at Lakeridge Middle School, where she supports students and helps create a positive learning environment. Her experience as a paraeducator has allowed her to develop strong problem-solving skills and a deep understanding of how to support students with different learning needs.

Jamie is passionate about helping students build confidence in math. Her caring and personable approach allows her to connect with students and support them in a way that helps them feel comfortable asking questions and growing academically. She truly enjoys seeing her students gain confidence and succeed.

Kalina Whiteford

Instructor

Kalina has a strong background in math and is dedicated to helping students develop the skills they need to tackle challenging problems with confidence. Patient and detail-oriented, she enjoys breaking down concepts in clear, easy-to-understand ways that support true comprehension.

As a member of the Mathnasium team, Kalina is excited to help students build confidence, strengthen their math foundations, and experience those “aha!” moments that make learning so rewarding.
