Our staff is built to teach each student individually, to develop the skills they need to thrive in mathematics, and to foster a love of learning.

Matthew Crawford

Lead Instructor

Matthew Crawford was born in Middlesex, New Jersey, and earned his Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from Northeastern University in Boston. A Mathnasium team member for more than ten years, he brings patience and clarity to every lesson and enjoys showing students that math can be both logical and fun.

Outside of Mathnasium, Matthew works in the finance department of the Somerset County Library System. He enjoys reading, cooking, and cycling—and once even adopted a kitten named Gato from his center director. His favorite math joke is, “What did the triangle say to the circle? You’re pointless!”

Uma Saha

Instructor

Uma Saha is a scientist and the Director of Scientific Operations at Genesis Biotechnology Group, where she works on developing stem cell lines and treatments for cancer and other diseases. Alongside her scientific career, she has spent more than twenty years tutoring students in math and science.

Uma brings enthusiasm and compassion to every session, helping students connect abstract ideas to the real world. She loves getting to know her students and says that spending time with them is one of the best parts of her day.

Amaan Hashmi

Instructor

Amaan Hashmi is a software engineer who enjoys solving problems through both code and numbers. He plans to pursue a Ph.D. in computer science with a focus on quantum computing and is passionate about helping students see math as a puzzle worth exploring.

When he’s not teaching, Amaan enjoys basketball, guitar, chess, and experimenting in the kitchen. He lives with two curious cats who sometimes “help” him code. His favorite math joke is, “What do you call a number that can’t keep still? A roamin’ numeral!”

Sravan Vinakota

Instructor

Sravan has a Bachelor's in Computer Science from the Indian Institute of Information Technology and a Master's in Data Science from the New Jersey Institute of Technology. He is an avid Python coder and solves math problems in his free time (mostly integral calculus).
