Igniting Math Potential in 2025: A Look Ahead with Mathnasium of Cedar Rapids

Jan 15, 2025 | Cedar Rapids

Q: What are your expectations from Mathnasium this new year?

Parent:
I expect Mathnasium to continue creating an environment where my daughter feels supported, motivated, and confident in tackling math concepts.
She already had such great measurable growth; I expect this to continue with improved problem-solving skills and better grades at school.

Q: What are you looking forward to most this new year?

Student:
I want to prepare for advanced math classes & competitions. The changing extra activities such as a staring contest with an instructor just add to the fun of a session.

Q: With the new year ahead, what are you excited to achieve at Mathnasium and how do you plan to make the most of this fresh start?

Student:
I’m hoping to move ahead in math and start learning things we haven’t covered in school yet. I also want to get faster at solving math problems so homework doesn't take as long. I’m going to ask more questions when I don’t understand something, and I’ll try to stay focused during sessions and avoid getting distracted so I can learn as much as possible.

Q: What new math concept or skill have you enjoyed learning at Mathnasium recently?

Student:
I just learned 2 math tricks! I learned how to mentally square numbers that end in 5 (checkout that 45^2 is 2025) I also learned a mental trick of multiplying bigger numbers by 11. My pages are helping me understand how to add fractions with different denominators.

Q: In this new year full of possibilities, what are you looking forward to assisting students with at Mathnasium to help them thrive and succeed?

Instructor:
I want to support students in mastering foundational skills while inspiring curiosity and a love for learning math. I look forward to continuing to transition students from memorizing formulas to truly understanding mathematical concepts. I hope to guide students toward becoming independent thinkers who enjoy solving problems. I want to share my passion for math!
