What Sets Mathnasium of Cedar Rapids Apart?

Jul 15, 2024 | Cedar Rapids

Q: What makes Mathnasium different from other tutoring centers?

A:
Jeanne, Kelly & Dustin's goal is to share their passion for math with students. Math is fun here! Our assessments are designed to pinpoint the topics the student needs to succeed in. Our curriculum gives the stepping stones necessary to succeed in each level. Students enjoy coming to Mathnasium, and their confidence soars!

Q: Why would you encourage parents to consider Mathnasium?

A:
Hands down, Mathnasium is the best place for students to learn math! We have multiple teaching styles, tactiles and visuals. We have fun activities to reinforce paper and pencil work, and of course, we have prizes! For a parent, the best thing is seeing their child's smile when coming and the increased math skills. For the students, well, they like the rewards and spinning the wheel.

Q: How often do students get re-assessed?

A:
Students will be given a comprehensive assessment at least every 4 months, more often, if appropriate. We are continuously reviewing students sessions and their learning plans. If a student completes their learning plan in 2 months, they will be reassessed at that time. If a student's material appears too easy or too hard, we will reassess. It is important to customize a learning plan to what a student is ready to learn so this is something we monitor closely in order for them to achieve success and feel their accomplishments!

Q: What kinds of math help does your center/re offer?

A:
We have more students coming to get even better at math, than those who struggle. We offer advancement materials, as well as, catch up material. We offer Algebra Preview, Algebra Reviews, Geometry Readiness, as well as, ACT prep and homework assistance. We have outstanding materials for all elementary and middle school students. Mathnasium materials are very fraction-focused at all levels (a deep understanding of fractions is a great predictor of success in math).
