Elis earned her teaching degree and has always been passionate about helping children succeed. As a teenager, she created an after-school program to support students in improving their math skills and volunteered at her church teaching catechism.
After 20 years in the corporate workforce and volunteering in schools across Brazil, Thailand, and the U.S., Elis chose to dedicate herself to her family. Supporting her own children during their formative years reinforced her belief in the importance of strong fundamentals early on. She is excited to bring her experience to Mathnasium and help students build confidence and skills.
Ioannis brings a background in corporate finance and operations, with experience in both U.S. and international roles. His passion for education led him to mentor Odyssey of the Mind teams and coach youth soccer, where he enjoyed helping children develop problem-solving skills and confidence.
Inspired by the Mathnasium Method™, Ioannis chose to invest in Mathnasium to transform students’ math education. He is dedicated to helping students not only make sense of math but also gain the critical thinking skills needed for long-term success.
The instructor team at Mathnasium of Chapel Hill is passionate about inspiring students and making math both understandable and enjoyable. Each instructor completes a rigorous selection process that includes a thorough interview, evaluation of teaching ability, a comprehensive math assessment, and a background check.
Once hired, instructors receive extensive training in the Mathnasium Method™, including best practices in math instruction and strategies to meet diverse student needs. Our team includes master’s degree holders, current teachers, college professors, recent graduates, and professionals who share a love of math and a dedication to student success.
