Tony Deshan

Director

Tony graduated from Kennesaw State University in 2008 with his Bachelor's in Finance. Upon graduating, he spent several years working in the financial services industry as a mortgage banker. In 2014, he opened Mathnasium in Mt. Pleasant and has enjoyed serving hundreds of students and their families. From coaching youth sports, to teaching golf camps, working with the youth has always been his passion. Tony is the proud parent of 3 boys. Tony feels that math is not about learning to be ready for the next math class – it’s about learning to think. He feels that Mathnasium is a great vehicle to build confidence in kids. “When a child develops that ‘numbers sense’ that helps them succeed in math, a whole new world opens up to them. That, in turn, builds a confidence that is born of real accomplishment, a confidence that spills over into all aspects of their lives.” He is excited to continue to work with the youth and have a positive impact on their life!

Edward Ball

Instructor

Edward is a native Charlestonian who attended Buist Academy and Bishop England high school. Edward graduated from Clemson University in 2007 with a bachelor of science in mathematics and a minor in physics. He has spent the last several years as the Director of Education for Mathnasium in Mt. Pleasant and Summerville. Edward looks forward to helping kids learn to love and develop a complete understanding of mathematics.

Michelle Koubek

Instructor

Michelle served in the US Navy as an Electricians Mate and graduated with honors from the College of New Jersey. Michelle currently substitutes for elementary and middle school students in the Charleston area. She enjoys teaching every level of math. She has been part of the team since 2020

Emma Aldridge

Instructor

Emma currently attends the College of Charleston where she is majoring in Biology. Next semester, she will begin her nursing degree at MUSC. Emma has been with Mathnasium since 2019 and excels at tutoring every level of math.

Adam Flaherty

Instructor

Adam has an M.S. in Mathematics from Western Carolina University. He has extensive teaching experience and most recently taught math at Trident Tech. He currently works for Hawkes Learning as a math software content editor. Adam has been with Mathnasium since 2019.

Gabi McNulty

Instructor

Gabriella is completing her degree in Math and Education at the College of Charleston. Upon graduating, she will become a middle school math teacher. She has experience teaching at Alston Middle and Haut Gap Middle. Gabriella has always excelled in math and is very excited to start her career as a math teacher.

Our Mathnasium Mission

Teach children math so they understand it, master it, and love it. Math can change their lives, and they can change the world.

What I love about Mathnasium is the ability to teach problem-solving skills and make math make sense, while also making a student smile.
