Afreen is the Center Director at Mathnasium of Chatsworth. She holds a Master’s degree in Math and Science as well as a Post Graduate Diploma in Science. Early in 2016, Afreen enrolled her daughter at Mathnasium and quickly saw her confidence and interest in math soar.
Inspired by that experience, she decided to open a Mathnasium center in Chatsworth to help more students succeed. Afreen believes every child can excel in math with the right support and tools. She is passionate about helping students build strong foundations, boost confidence, and become effective problem solvers.
As Assistant Center Director at Mathnasium of Chatsworth, Hoss plays a key role in creating a warm, structured, and effective learning environment for every student who walks through the door. He oversees daily instruction, supports the training and development of instructors, and works closely with families to ensure each child’s learning plan truly fits their needs.
Hoss is currently preparing for the MCAT as he pursues his goal of attending medical school, and he brings that same discipline and curiosity into the center. He’s known for his ability to explain challenging concepts in a clear, encouraging way and for building strong connections with students who may feel anxious or discouraged about math.
Outside of Mathnasium, Hoss enjoys surfing, playing guitar, and lifting weights. His energy, empathy, and high standards help set the tone for the center—students feel supported, instructors feel guided, and families know their children are in excellent hands.
Bianca is currently attending Pierce College studying aerospace engineering, with a strong interest in physics. She strives to help students build confidence in mathematics and develop an innate passion for learning. In her free time, you can find Bianca rock climbing, fixing up cars, or practicing martial arts.
Sharjeel is a sophomore at California State University, Northridge. He loves music, playing basketball, and spending time with friends, and he brings that same joyful energy to teaching at Mathnasium. Sharjeel believes math is a universal language and enjoys helping students connect with concepts in meaningful ways.
He approaches instruction with patience and a desire to make learning both empowering and enjoyable. Sharjeel’s friendly personality and genuine interest in helping others make him a supportive and engaging instructor for students of all levels.
Amalie is a junior at Chatsworth Charter High School who brings upbeat energy and a genuine love for math to her role at Mathnasium. Her enthusiasm helps students feel comfortable and engaged, turning challenging topics into achievable goals.
Outside the center, Amalie enjoys playing video games, practicing taekwondo, and volunteering at school events. She connects well with students and strives to make math not only understandable but enjoyable. Amalie’s supportive approach helps students build both skills and confidence as they work toward academic success.
Bio for Sarah
Sarah is an ambitious pre-law student who is steadily building the foundation for her future career in the legal field. She is currently enrolled at Pierce Community College, where her strong work ethic and academic excellence have earned her a place on the Dean’s List.
Driven, focused, and passionate about justice, Sarah is committed to continuing her education and transferring to a four-year university before pursuing law school. She approaches every challenge with determination and a clear vision of the impact she hopes to make. Her journey is just beginning, and she is already proving that she has the discipline and dedication needed to thrive in the legal profession.
Celine is a junior at John H. Francis Polytechnic High School with strong interests in both academics and the arts. She enjoys dancing as a way to express her creativity and coding as a way to develop her discipline. Celine is passionate about making learning engaging and creating positive experiences. Outside of school, she enjoys exploring new games and sketching in her notebook.
Charlotte is currently attending Granada Hills Chart High School. She is in the marching band and loves art. She loves connecting with students and fully believes that anyone can find something in math they love. In her free time, you can find Charlotte practicing the piano or pointing.
Joey is currently a junior at Granada Hills Charter High School with a strong interest in chemistry and math. He studies regularly outside of school and is highly dedicated to his own education as well as the academic growth of others. Joey believes that math offers a unique sense of gratification—there’s nothing quite like the moment when everything “clicks”—and he strives to create that experience for every student he works with.
Outside of school, Joey enjoys playing guitar, painting, and volunteering at local youth centers, where he continues to share his passion for learning and mentorship. His patience, enthusiasm, and commitment make him a valuable addition to the Mathnasium team.
