Our staff is built to teach each student individually, to develop the skills they need to thrive in mathematics, and to foster a love of learning.

Dave Weddle

Instructor

Dave is a retired small business manager and proud father of four homeschooled children. Encouraged by his kids to share his patience and love of learning, he joined Mathnasium to help students find confidence and enjoyment in math.

Outside of the classroom, Dave spends time with his wife and children exploring the outdoors and staying active as a family. His calm, encouraging approach helps students overcome challenges and discover that math can be both meaningful and fun.

Kathy Kornman

Instructor

Kathy holds degrees in Math, Physics, and Numerical Analysis, and has spent her career applying math to a variety of professional and volunteer roles. Her passion for the subject extends into her personal life, where she finds mathematical beauty in creative pursuits like sewing and photography.

At Mathnasium, Kathy enjoys helping students connect math concepts to the world around them and develop confidence in their problem-solving skills. She loves seeing students realize how math is woven into everyday life—and even once taught her rescue beagle to count to three.

Rebecca Doggett

Instructor

Rebecca is a Secondary Math Education Major at ODU. She mostly plays fortnite, COD, and Zelda in her free time. She also loves to read fantasy books. Rebecca loves Mathnasium because the kids are awesome and she gets to work on math problems.

Bhuvanesh Skandaraj

Instructor

Bhuvanesh is a senior in the STEM Academy's Programming pathway at Grassfield High School and an aspiring Electrical Engineer. He is interested in math (mainly calculus) as well as physics, and has himself been a Mathnasium student since elementary school. In his freetime, he enjoys both playing video games and developing them for competitions.

John Cavanaugh

Instructor

John has 27 years of experience in the field of education.  He has a Master of Science in Education from Old Dominion University, as well as an Educational Specialist Degree in Administration and Supervision from The George Washington University.  Prior to becoming an Administrator, he taught Pre-Algebra and Algebra 1 for 12 years.

Suyambhav Saini

Instructor

Suyambhav is a Governor's STEM Academy student at Grassfield High School. His passion for math extends to the race track, where Suyambhav is a NASCAR Local Racing Series driver at Langley Speedway, where calculations are constantly made to optimize the car for the track conditions to win races. He enjoys interacting with students and seeing them progress in their math skills regularly.

Gracie Reine

Assistant Director

Gracie graduated from Regent University with a Bachelors of Science and a double major in Math and Computer Science and a minor in Biblical Studies. In her free time she enjoys crafting and being active in her local church. She also enjoys watching and playing soccer. She loves working with students at mathnasium because it is very rewarding seeing students reach that moment where things finally start to click.

Our Mathnasium Mission

Teach children math so they understand it, master it, and love it. Math can change their lives, and they can change the world.
