Elaine earned her J.D. from Loyola University School of Law and has served as both a research attorney and substitute teacher at the University of Chicago Lab Schools. She loves helping students understand math by making real-world connections and fostering curiosity.
Elaine is also an avid explorer of the outdoors and counts hiking in the Blue Ridge Mountains and strolling through Central Park among her favorite pastimes. She’s currently excited to learn more about statistics and enjoys seeing students grow as they tackle new challenges with confidence.
John holds a Ph.D. in Mathematics from Northwestern University and brings more than 15 years of tutoring experience. He has served as a teaching assistant and lecturer for undergraduate mathematics at Northwestern for seven years.
Originally from Australia, John brings a global perspective to his teaching and once even spotted a platypus in the wild. His deep interest in mathematical theory extends to quantum field theory in curved spacetime, a topic he hopes to explore further. At Mathnasium, he loves helping students find clarity and excitement in math.
Melissa has a B.S. in Chemical Engineering with a minor in Mathematics and a B.A. in Music. With experience tutoring a wide range of subjects from Algebra to Calculus and serving as a TA for Calculus III, she brings both technical expertise and creative flair to her instruction.
Melissa enjoys showing students how math can connect to unexpected places, including music. She plays five instruments and hopes to study the mathematical analysis of music in the future. At Mathnasium, she helps students find both structure and creativity in their learning.
Nick earned dual B.S. degrees in Electrical Engineering and Jazz Studies from the University of Wisconsin–Madison. His tutoring journey began in high school, where he discovered a knack for helping peers grasp complex math concepts.
Beyond the classroom, Nick is a talented saxophonist who brings the same creativity and rhythm to his teaching style. Enthusiastic about advanced topics, he is particularly eager to deepen his understanding of differential equations. At Mathnasium, Nick combines his technical background with artistic flair to make math both structured and engaging for students.
Education: BS in Mathematics- University of Wisconsin Madison (Expected May 2026)

Related Experience: I worked as a STEAMbassador for the City of Chicago, where I taught kids 3D printing and coding through Legos. I also tutor middle school students online.
Fun Fact: I play the piano and I am technically a 4th generation student of Rachmaninoff! I also enjoy photography and pottery.

Education: I am currently a Senior at Lane Tech.
Related experience: I have tutored grades K-8 after school for several years, along with volunteer teaching math summer school to rising kindergarteners.
Fun fact: I enjoy creative writing and I have read some of my work on stage.
