Alleah brings a global perspective and a heart for education to her role as Center Director. She holds an MA in Global Migration Studies and a BA in Biblical and Global Studies, along with a TESOL certification. Her passion for teaching has taken her to classrooms in India and France, where she taught English to children of diverse backgrounds, including refugee students. Along the way, she has led teams and managed nonprofit programs supporting families and children, and has seen firsthand how the right kind of encouragement and teaching can change a child’s future.
At Mathnasium, Alleah combines her teaching experience and commitment to children’s growth with Mathnasium’s proven methods. She is dedicated to fostering an encouraging atmosphere where every child feels believed in and capable of success. With her background in education, operations, and global service, she is excited to help students not only master math, but also build the confidence to change their world.
In her free time, she likes cooking, reading, going to the beach, and spending time with family (especially her cute little niece).
Nick Van Vliet earned his bachelor’s degree in Business Finance from California State University, Northridge, and joined Mathnasium in 2014. After serving as a Center Director for two years, he now oversees multiple centers as Operations Director.
Nick is committed to fostering positive learning environments where students feel encouraged to challenge themselves and enjoy math. He believes confidence grows through consistent support and engagement. Outside of Mathnasium, Nick enjoys sports, snowboarding, reading, hosting barbecues, and competing in just about any game he can find.
Sherin Yueksel earned her bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of California, Berkeley. She began her Mathnasium journey as an instructor in 2021 and quickly advanced to leadership roles, including helping establish a new center.
Sherin is passionate about making a meaningful impact in her community by supporting students and staff alike. She strives to create environments where students feel confident, motivated, and supported in their learning. Outside of work, Sherin enjoys spending time with family, shopping, and experimenting with new recipes.
Paul holds a bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering and an MBA from the University of Houston. He brings a strong analytical background and a passion for teaching students of all ages.
Paul enjoys helping students overcome math challenges by connecting concepts to real-life examples. He believes learning is most effective when students feel supported and understood. In his free time, Paul enjoys traveling, working out, researching cars, and spending quality time with his family.
George is currently a freshman at California State University of Fullerton and has finished math up to AP Calculus BC and AP Statistics. Throughout his math journey, he developed a strong interest in sharing his knowledge to help others, similar to how his father and brother helped him through his struggles in math. With a passion for helping others and developing interpersonal connections, George decided to bring his efforts to Mathnasium. He often tutors his friends in his free time, and he would like to do the same in math here at Mathnasium. He is pursuing a degree in Business Administration and wants to become a financial advisor. In his free time, George enjoys playing basketball, hanging out with his friends, and going to the beach.
Heather is currently a junior at Cal Poly Pomona, working toward her bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering. She is deeply passionate about helping students build confidence and find joy in math. After spending two years volunteering as a peer math tutor in high school, she has continued mentoring fellow students at her university. In her free time, Heather enjoys being involved in clubs, reading, playing pickleball, and spending quality time with friends.
Katie is currently a senior at Brea Olinda High School and has developed a strong interest in math throughout her academic journey. She has previous experience interning with a local school district, where she had the opportunity to work alongside educators and gain insight into the learning environment. This experience helped Katie develop strong communication, teamwork, and leadership skills while working with students of different ages and backgrounds. At Mathnasium, she hopes to continue developing her communication and leadership skills while helping students reach their academic goals. She plans to pursue a degree in biology and become a physician assistant. In her free time, Katie enjoys going to concerts, painting, and spending time with friends and family.
JT is currently a junior in high school at Ruben S. Ayala High School. He takes great pride and joy in teaching kids and helping them reach their full potential in mathematics. He hopes to study engineering in college and is involved in engineering clubs after school. In his free time, JT enjoys working out at 24 Hour Fitness and going out to eat at all sorts of places.
Jacob is currently a junior at Cal State Fullerton, studying Electrical Engineering. He enjoys teaching students to understand why math works, not just the fact that it works. He believes that having a strong intuition for math becomes increasingly important as students progress to more advanced levels. In his spare time, Jacob enjoys cooking, playing video games, and gardening.
