Meet the Team at Mathnasium of Clear Lake

Sonja

Sonja has been a multi-unit leader for over 15 years in the retail industry. She has a passion for leading and developing high-performing teams. Sonja's unwavering dedication to helping children build a solid foundation in mathematics is what gives her work profound meaning. As a child, she faced an overwhelming fear of math. It was an obstacle that hindered her potential, but one she eventually conquered with perseverance and guidance. Driven by a desire to spare others from experiencing the anxiety she once felt, Sonja's goal is helping children overcome their own apprehensions. She cherishes the opportunity to make a lasting impact on young minds, molding them into confident problem solvers.

Joe

Joe joined the Mathnasium team in the Fall of 2021. He graduated from IUPUI with a Bachelor's degree in Business. He brings 16 years of Leadership experience in the retail and restaurant industries. He was a Multi-Unit leader for both a top grocery retailer and the fastest growing restaurant chain in the US. Joe has an incredible passion for developing others and helping them maximize their own potential. He has coached youth baseball/softball and also coached his daughters in soccer. He is excited to be able to serve the community through helping change the lives of students through math.

Jodi

Jodi has a Bachelor's degree in Biology and Math from Hope College and graduated with her secondary teaching certificate. She also has a Master’s degree in Math Education and a Specialist’s degree in Curriculum and Teacher Leadership from Piedmont College. Jodi has been teaching for 20 years and has taught all levels from 8th grade math to IB math studies. Jodi is also a certified gifted instructor. Jodi loves to teach and tutor because she loves to see the sense of great achievement when a student grasps a difficult math concept! She also believes that every student can succeed and excel with the proper tools and support.

Lauren

Lauren graduated from the University of Central Florida with an Interdisciplinary Studies degree focused on Mathematics Education and Psychology. She has mastered math skills in the areas of College Algebra, Calculus I – Calculus III, Differential Equations, and Statistics I & II. Lauren developed a passion for math education during her first two years of high school, and it continued throughout her college years. She believes that math is meant to be challenging and enjoyable, not frustrating and scary. Since starting at Mathnasium in 2011, she has enjoyed the continued success of her students and inspiring them to love math as much as she does.

Miss Kanchan

I have a  double major in Mathematical Biology and Psychology at the University of Houston- Main Campus. After graduation, Kanchan plans to become an Optometrist. She enjoys sharing her passion of math with students and creating a fun environment to make learning math fun!  In her free time, Kanchan likes to cook new dishes, journal, and binge watch crime documentaries.

Sean

I am currently a junior at the University of Houston, pursuing a degree in computer science. His ultimate goal is to become a software developer. In his free time, he enjoys playing video games, tennis, and hiking.

Andy

He goes to the University of Houston - Clear Lake and is pursuing a Bachelor’s in Computer Science. He enjoys working with students and is happy to teach students the Mathnasium Method as an instructor. In his free time, Mr. Andy enjoys playing video games and card games.
