Today you’ll get a glimpse into the happenings of your local center as we follow students through their first experience at Mathnasium of Collegeville.

Q: What is the first thing a brand new student does at your center?

A: After their risk free assessment, once enrollment is completed new students are introduced to the center and how the sessions progress. This includes introduction to the instructors, then a tour of the rewards case and how to earn rewards. Then an introduction to their personal binder and how they progress through their personal learning plan.

Q: What is the comprehensive assessment? How long does it take to finish?

A: An Assessment can be as short as 45 minutes or as long as 2 hours. This is entirely based on the student, their level of knowledge, and how quickly they work. The median time is about 70 minutes. The assessment includes an introduction period where the director will take the time to get to know the student and make them feel comfortable in a new environment. This is followed by a verbal assessment where the director will ask a variety of questions of the student to get a gauge on the students knowledge level and abilities. Finally their is a written assessment that gives the student a chance to show off their knowledge and gives us a chance to determine the students strengths and opportunities, which we will use to put together an individualized lesson plan tailored strictly for that individual student.
