Chase Storbeck

Center Director
Chase is a Georgia native, having grown up in Decatur and Peachtree City. He later attended Indiana University in Bloomington where he completed a Bachelor of General Studies with focuses in Music, Physics, and Sports Communications. Chase then completed a certificate of Audio Engineering from Berklee College of Music. After interning in Chicago, Chase returned to Georgia to teach audio classes at the nearby Callanwolde Fine Arts Center. Chase's teaching tenure began immediately after high school with his involvement in metro Atlanta middle and high school band programs. Chase began working at Mathnasium in April 2016 and has really enjoyed being a part of the team, values, and atmosphere Mathnasium has to offer. In his spare time, Chase enjoys writing music, playing sports, keeping up with his favorite teams, and grilling out with his friends and family.

Claire Kuykendall

Mathnasium @Home Facilitator
Claire joined the Mathnasium team in the summer of 2015 while she finished up her time at Georgia Tech where she majored in Applied Mathematics with a minor in Environmental Science. After graduation, she continued working at Mathnasium until she left for her post-graduate studies at the University of Glasgow in Scotland where she studied Environmental Statistics. Claire's own love of math and helping others find their love of math brought her back to Mathnasium when she returned from her studies abroad. Outside of Mathnasium, Claire can be found at a concert, reading several books at once, or binge-watching shows on Netflix.

Estelle Ostro

Assistant Center Director
Estelle joined Mathnasium in March 2023 after two years of teaching first grade in Dekalb County. She received her B.A. in Physics from the University of Chicago in 2016 and her M.A.T. in Elementary Education from Georgia State University in 2022. She has also worked with children at summer camps, after-school programs, and martial arts dojos. Estelle always considered herself a "humanities" girl until she took AP Calculus AB in 11th grade and fell in love--the rest is history! In her free time, Estelle enjoys reading, drawing, cycling, and spending time with her two cats and two dogs.

Matthew Jones

Instructor & Education Specialist
Matthew graduated from Portland State University in 2013 with a B.S. in Physics and a Math minor. He moved to Decatur from Portland, OR in the summer of 2013 to spend time with his family and look into graduate programs. His research interests include numerical modeling, chaos theory, and nonlinear dynamics. Education has always been a passion of his, and Mathnasium, in particular, is a good fit for him to exercise that passion. The program at Mathnasium aligns well with Matthew's personal education philosophies, especially the aspect of making math more accessible and easier to understand on a fundamental level. Matthew has been working at the Decatur location since its official opening in May of 2014. His leadership has been instrumental in the growth of the center. Matthew enjoys riding bikes, and can often be seen riding around the Decatur area, most likely on his way to Mathnasium!

Eleanor S

Lead Instructor
Eleanor Sterne is a sophomore at Decatur High School. She is currently enjoying AP Statistics and has a lifelong love of math. If you need a good book or music recommendation, ask her! She hopes to help spread her love of math the way that her teachers have done for her!

Ash D

Instructor
Ash is a former Mathnasium student and senior at Druid Hills High School. He is the president of the school's math club and loves educating himself and others in math. He also enjoys music, science, and visual arts. His goal is to become a math professor in the future.

Elia N

Instructor
Elia is a Junior at Decatur High School. She has a passion for math and loves to help kids. In her free time, she loves reading, board games, and ultimate frisbee.

Harper E

Instructor
Harper is a junior at Decatur High School. She has been a private math tutor for the last year and was delighted when she became a math tutor at Mathnasium a few months ago. Harper likes to spend her free time reading and playing or listening to music.

Heather M

Instructor
Heather is a sophomore at Decatur High School. She loves math and can't wait to share her passion for it! In her free time, she enjoys playing tennis and listening to music, especially 80s music.

Jai A

Instructor
Jai Arieh is a graduate of Druid Hills High School currently attending Georgia Tech. A former Mathnasium student himself, Jai enjoys teaching math at all levels. Outside of Mathnasium, he enjoys playing and listening to music, cooking, watching sports, spending time with friends and family, and being in nature.

Kara M

Kara graduated from the University of Georgia with degrees in Math, Math Education, and Accounting. In her free time, she loves to paint, read science fiction, and go hiking with her dog.

Kendall H

Kendall is a Freshman at the University of Georgia and is studying computer science. He enjoys spending time with his family and friends. Kendall's favorite hobbies are doing math and cooking.

Liz H

Instructor
Liz Heydorn is a Junior at Agnes Scott College, pursuing a Mathematics degree. Their favorite topics in math are fractals and fractions. In their free time, they love to sing and dance with their cat Freddie, draw or paint, or go to conventions.

Michael C

Instructor
Michael Chung is an electrical engineer from Auburn University who joined Mathnasium in 2016. He enjoys programming, loves reading fantasy books, and likes to play video games as well. He loves helping students understand new concepts.

Oliver F

Instructor
Oliver is a student at Druid Hills High School and has loved math from a very young age. He is a former student at Mathnasium and learned quite a bit here. He has a passion for math and hopes that he can spark younger students' love of math as well.

Pavel R

Instructor
Pavel grew up in Florida and moved to Decatur for college. He is a Quantitative Theory and Methods Major at Emory University with a specialty in Public Policy Analysis. He has been a math tutor for various mathnasiums since 2018 and sets alarms that have to be turned off by answering math problems. He loves riding his motorcycle to work and is a big fan of strategy games like Civilization 6 and Stellaris.

Prateek is a second-year student at the University of Georgia. He is currently studying Management Information Systems at the Terry College of Business. As a form student at Mathnasium, he loves engaging and teaching students to better their math skills!

Rani is passionate about math and working with kids! She has almost two years of experience working with Mathnasium in Texas and in Decatur. She is excited to be at the Decatur center and to continue to see all of the progress that her students have made.

Riley is currently a sophomore at Decatur High School. She was a former student at Mathnasium and continues her passion for math and problem-solving as an instructor. She is a kind and dedicated person who is devoted to helping tutor and instruct her students in a way that will help them with math in many ways. In her spare time, Riley enjoys reading, baking, and playing lacrosse.

Sara Kathryn is a Junior at Emory University. Although she majors in French and International Studies, she loves to share her love of math with others! Her favorite area of math is Trigonometry. In her free time, she likes to read, play with her dogs, and work in her garden.

Sophie P

Sophie is a junior at Decatur High School who loves math. She enjoys playing tennis and spending time with her family. She is also a huge dog lover and loves to talk about them.
