Anthony Yom, a teacher at Lincoln Heights, has a student who scored perfect on their AP Calculus exam after he changed the way that the classroom was looked at. Yom came to the United States from Korea when we was 12. He has struggled in school because it was hard for him to understand the English language but he excelled in math, numbers are a universal language. He and his friends would meet every night for 3 to 4 hours going over AP calculus when they were taking the class, they would teach themselves and eachother. When Yom got his first teaching job he decided that the best way for the students to trust him and really listen was for him to dress like them and to listen to the same music that they did. Apparently this worked because Yom has increased the scores of the math program in his school, he has been teaching ath Lincoln Heights for 11 years.
