An easy, visual way to teach Least Common Multiple (LCM)

Aug 23, 2015 | East Sparks

Like most kids, I was a visual learner.

Here's an easy way to show them how to think about least common multiples.

Take some blocks or Legos or something that can be stacked or lined up end to end.  For example, to discuss the least common multiple of 3 and 5, stack blocks of a thickness of 3 and a thickness of 5 and stack them up until they are exactly the same total length.

That total length is the least common multiple ... it's really that simple!
