Finger Counting 3 | Number Bonds

Jun 3, 2015 | East Sparks

When it comes to finger counting, it's so important to master the combinations of numbers that make up single digits.  A fun way to practice this is to play a game where kids get rewarded for completing number bonds ... and we time it.

But instead of just one number bond, we practice by doing them all ... within the time limit.  We start with 60 seconds.  If they them all right within 60 seconds, we do it again at 45 seconds.  If they don't, we do it again at 60.

This will build mastery over time for all of the single-digit numbers.

The reward makes it fun, positive.  Not getting them all within the time limit doesn't mean failure.  It means we have another chance to get rewarded.
