A few of our kids have been starting on multiple-step division. Wow, they really don't like it. So we've been focusing on making the numbers more "friendly".
In the example, 3706 can be broken into a couple of numbers that are friendlier to 4.
3706 = 3600 + 100 + 6
When we showed this to them, we got the highly-sought-after "OOOOHHHH, I get it"!
We all breathed a collective "WHEW"!
