Clint holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Utah and spent 16+ years in marketing and advertising before joining Mathnasium.

Now a passionate advocate for math education, Clint loves seeing students gain confidence through math. A proud husband and father of three, he enjoys hiking, skiing, and cheering on the Utah Utes. Fun fact: Clint summited Mt. Kilimanjaro at 19,341 feet! He finds helping kids realize they can do math to be one of the most rewarding experiences of his career.

Luke Hasna

Instructor
I am currently studying graduate topology and algebra as well as complex analysis at the University of Utah. I absolutely love the field of analysis, and I hope to write my thesis in it! Some of my favorite courses over the years have been Linear Algebra, Algebraic Number Theory, and Real Analysis II. I participated in Mu Alpha Theta for several years in high school. I also did dual enrollment with Stanford University Online High School for my junior and senior years in high school. There, I worked in a number theory-based math research club. I have tutored friends, classmates, and neighborhood kids in math and science for over five years before working at Mathnasium. Their levels vary between elementary school to high school to various undergraduate fields (pure math, physics, engineering, etc.) I enjoy playing a plethora of video games (Dark Souls, Counter-Strike, Noita, and more), going on camping trips with friends, and having deep conversations with people.

Fun Fact: When I was a kid, I collected all kinds of stuffed animal germ plushies. Each representing a different kind of microbe existing in the real world. They were adorable and quite informative!

Favorite Number: e aka. 2.7182818284590453… This number, given by the sum of 1/n! for n = 1,2,3,…, allows for the construction of the most important function in all of mathematics. This is e^z for complex numbers z. It carries the important property of being a “group homomorphism,” preserving the structure between the additive real numbers and the multiplicative real numbers. This is demonstrated in the identity: e^(z+w) = (e^z)(e^w). Among other things, the slope of e^z is itself, and its integral is itself too.

Education: I go to school at the University of Utah. I am a first year in graduate school stuyding pure mathematics. I graduated high school in 2022 with many dual enrollment credits, allowing me to finish my undergrad quickly.

Why I love Mathnasium: I love sharing my passion of math with other people! It is my goal to kindle similar passions in the youth through teaching!

Favorite Number, Why?: 2, you get the same result if you add 2 to itself, multiply it by itself, or put it to the power of itself.

Education: I am a Junior at Farmington High School.

Why I Like Mathnasium: I love math and helping other people understand the concepts.

Suzy Hancock

Instructor

I have taken Honors Secondary Math 2 and Secondary Math 3. I was on the Farmington High Swim and have played 2 years of rec. soccer. I have experience working with children when I taught as a swim instructor for two years. I love to read, play guitar, and do all sorts of sports, especially skiing.

Fun Fact: I can’t snap or roll my R’s.

Favorite Number, Why?: My favorite number is 9 because I love September.

Education: I am a Junior at Farmington High school.

Why I Like Mathnasium: I like working at Mathnasium because I love working with kids and it’s fun to help them understand my favorite subject, math.

Rachel Allen

Instructor

I have taken all honors math classes throughout high school and am currently taking AP Calculus AB in my Senior Year. I have been a member of the North Salt Lake Youth City Council for five years now, and this is my second year on its Executive Council, first as the Leadership Chairwoman, and now as the City Manager. I run the Trading Card Game Club at my high school and dedicate a lot of time to teaching new players and creating a safe space for fellow nerds. I love reading, writing, spending time with family, and playing video games. My favorite books are East by Edith Pattou, The Lost Metal by Brandon Sanderson, and Tress of the Emerald Sea also by Brandon Sanderson. My favorite games are Minecraft, Baldur's Gate III, and Divinity: Original Sin.

Fun Fact: I write fantasy novels in my spare time and hope to publish one day.

Favorite Number, Why?: My favorite number is 127. It pops up everywhere I go. I think it is lucky.

Education: I am a Senior in high school at Woods Cross, with several colleges on the table for future education.

Why I Like Mathnasium: I like Mathnasium because it provides more direct interaction between mentor and student, which helps people learn better at their pace.

Shanille Stevens

Instructor

I have taken Secondary Math I, II, and III, Math 1050 (Algebra), Math 1060 (Trig), and Calculus I and II. I have been part of the Clearfield High School Marching Band for 4 years, and I was Woodwind Field Captain for one of them. I have also had the opportunity to perform at Abravanel Hall several times with the Utah All State Band. I used to be an intern with the Software Engineering Group at Hill Air Force Base, where I learned how to apply math and problem-solving to Python programming. I have played clarinet since 6th grade, and I have dabbled in alto sax and mellophone. I love to read (especially Brandon Sanderson novels), write, and do art. I enjoy rock climbing, archery, and watching movies and playing video games with my siblings.

Fun Fact: I used to live in Okinawa, Japan, and my backyard had a great view of some castle ruins.

Favorite Number, Why?: My favorite number is 1 because it is extremely useful in both math and computer science. You can use it to solve or simplify all sorts of problems and it is one of the two numbers used in binary code.

Education: I am a senior at NUAMES, and I will graduate with both my High School Diploma and Associates of Science in General Studies in May of 2026. I plan to study Aerospace Engineering at Utah State.

Why I Like Mathnasium: I love working with numbers, and Mathnasium provides opportunities for me to work directly with youth to show them how great numbers can be.

Cameron Staples

Instructor

I have taken everything up to Junior level in high school. I enjoy video games, working out, and drawing.

Fun Fact: I have a black belt in karate.

Favorite Number, Why: 5, it feels the most even out of all the odds.
