Jazz pianist Thelonious Monk once said "all musicians are subconsciously mathematicians." This is definitely the case for Center Director Gary Milholland. Gary has been a musician since 1992, and he has loved math even longer. This passion for math led him to earn a bachelor's degree in Mathematics and Statistics from Miami University and to program his own video game where players average out words based on their alphanumeric value.
Gary has released 15 studio albums in addition to touring 9 European countries and 18 states across the U.S. His musical logo incorporates a squared mu symbol and a mobius strip, representing the infinite power of music and math. He's excited to help students unlock those infinite mathematical powers, while exploring their application to music and nearly every other part of daily life. Lives can be changed through math, and Gary is living proof of its transformative power.
Reed is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Washington & Lee University and earned his M.A. in Social Studies from Teachers College, Columbia University. With a background in teaching history at both the secondary and college levels, Reed values a well-rounded education that includes strong STEM instruction alongside the humanities.
As a co-owner of Mathnasium, Reed is dedicated to transforming how students understand and enjoy math. He believes that strong math skills open doors to countless opportunities and is excited to help students build lasting confidence and critical thinking abilities.
Matthew is currently studying mathematics at NKU.
Vasavi is a Senior at Ryle High School. She enjoys journaling and academic achievement.
Xander is a 12th grade student at Conner High School in Hebron. He has taken Calculus and has experience working with children from Kindergarten all the way up to 11th grade. He enjoys math, science, and socializing.
