Lexie Rauda

Center Director

Lexie earned her Bachelor's degree in Pure Mathematics from the University of California, Irvine. With over eight years of experience teaching the Mathnasium Method, she loves helping students turn fear into fascination and watching their “Aha!” moments light up the room. 

Her favorite number is 343, a perfect cube that reminds her of the patterns and beauty found in math. Outside the center, Lexie enjoys attending concerts, going on road trips, spending time at the beach, and baking treats to share with others—a sweet way to combine creativity and joy!

Joshua Villalpando

Center Director

Joshua is pursuing his Mathematics degree at Cal State Long Beach, driven by a passion for geometry and structure that began in childhood. He has experience in robotics and Computer-Aided Design, and he enjoys helping students overcome challenges just as he’s done in his own math journey. 

His favorite number is 5, representing balance and symmetry. When not teaching or studying, Joshua enjoys playing the piano, golfing, and racquetball. He brings both heart and experience to Mathnasium, creating a space where students are encouraged to grow through support and understanding.

Eric Yang

Assistant Center Director

A graduate of Cal State Fullerton with a degree in Mathematics, Eric is currently pursuing a single subject teaching credential. Fascinated by the way numbers connect to everything—from art to history—he helps students find those same meaningful patterns in math. 

Eric’s favorite number is 3, which he appreciates for its simplicity and balance. He’s also a proud bird owner with a lovebird and a cockatiel, which he jokingly refers to as “modern-day dinosaurs.” Outside of teaching, Eric enjoys drawing and gaming, often using his math knowledge to enhance both hobbies.

Abraham Castelan

Lead Instructor

Abraham is a Pure Mathematics major at Cal Poly Pomona, focused on Secondary Education. After discovering his passion for math, he switched from Computer Engineering and now loves guiding students toward understanding. He brings experience from robotics, programming, and electrical engineering—and as an Eagle Scout, he’s no stranger to leadership and problem-solving. 

His favorite number is 23, a number he associates with personal milestones and mathematical elegance. Outside of Mathnasium, Abraham enjoys working on sports cars, playing video games, and listening to music—balancing logic with creativity in all aspects of his life.

Sean Newland

Lead Instructor

Sean Newland is a fourth-year student at the University of La Verne currently pursing a degree in computer science and data analytics. He also has experience doing research work with NASA's Heliophysics department, and has been working as a Teaching Assistant in his University's Physics Lab tutoring students. His enjoyment for tutoring his fellow classmates has led him to seek a role at Mathnasium! In his free time, Sean also enjoys archery and programming. Favorite Number: 10. Fun Fact: He still has a Nintendo 3DS from when he was a kid.

Ethan Kosaki

Lead Instructor

Ethan Kosaki is a student at UC Irvine and is pursuing Computer Science and Business Management. With a long-standing interest in both technology and business development, Ethan aims to integrate these fields to develop innovative solutions in tech-driven industries. Ethan is also the co-founder of a nonprofit organization that has hosted events for more than a thousand high school and college students around the world. Through his volunteer, nonprofit, and tutoring experience, Ethan has taught classes in math, animation, and web development to students of all ages and experience levels. In addition to academics, Ethan enjoys playing basketball and loves watching Formula 1 races. Favorite Number: 4. Fun Fact: He is a descendent of Japanese Samurai.

Nicholas Campellone

Instructor

Nicholas Campellone is a junior at California State University, Fullerton, and will complete his bachelor's degree in pure mathematics by spring 2025. In grade school, he developed a strong interest in mathematics following his introduction to sequences, series, and trigonometry. After graduating from high school, Nicholas established an independent math tutoring practice for K-12 students. His primary objective was not only to improve mathematical literacy and understanding but also to connect with his students and their families. After two years of independent practice, Nicholas decided to pursue his formal education in mathematics. As he completes his studies, Nicholas enjoys reading nonfiction, writing poetry, and composing music for string quartets. Favorite Number: 7. Fun Fact: He played the violin for 8 years from elementary to high school.

Wyatt Warbiany

Instructor

Wyatt Warbiany is a Junior at Aliso Niguel High School emphasizing learning physics and calculus to prepare for studying Nuclear Engineering in college. Wyatt has been interested with physics for years, and particularly wants to delve deeper into atomic physics and the science of power generation to one day operate nuclear reactors. Wyatt loves the diverse number of methods to explain challenging problems to students, and has a passion for clarifying the underlying concepts and reasoning behind the arithmetic and algebra. He now has 3 years of tutoring experience and see's no end in sight. Wyatt also loves to play golf and has a love for music. Favorite Number: Phi (the golden ratio). Fun Fact: He loves Country Music!

Aniyah Shah

Instructor

Aniyah Shah is a junior at Capistrano Valley High School. She has always been interested in math and enjoys computer coding as well! She has taken several computer science courses and is improving her skills as a programmer. She is involved in many volunteer programs, many of which help children and the community. Also, she greatly enjoys helping other students learn, which is why she has come to Mathnasium to support our community of Math learners. Favorite Number: 23. Fun Fact: She enjoys reading and building with Legos.

Katelyn Smith

Instructor

Katelyn Smith is a junior at El Toro High School planning to major in chemistry or biology once she graduates.. Throughout high school, her interest in math and science related subjects grew, and so did her passion for teaching those around her. Katelyn tutors chemistry students at school and helps her peers and younger siblings with math homework. Outside of school, Katelyn enjoys playing tennis and practicing piano. Favorite Number: 8. Fun Fact: She loves sewing in her free time!

Victoria Cho

Instructor

Victoria Cho is currently a senior at Troy High School under the Troy Tech Program. Throughout high school, math has always been the most challenging yet rewarding subject for Victoria. She has extensive experience working with children whether it be tutoring her own siblings at home or through volunteering for a local Chinese school. In the future, Victoria seeks to be a lifelong learner of mathematics as well as to be at the intersection between mathematics and the business world. When she is not cracking down on math problems, Victoria enjoys reading and making slime. Favorite Number: 8. Fun Fact: I love drinking matcha but I love making matcha for my friends and family more!

Jasmine Hou

Instructor

Jasmine Hou is a senior at Portola High School and is looking to major in applied mathematics or statistics. She has been intrigued by math since a young age and has been volunteering as a math tutor all throughout high school. Jasmine enjoys creating a positive and welcoming learning environment for children of all ages learning math. She has 3 years of tutoring experience and also enjoys tennis outside of school. Favorite Number: 7. Fun Fact: She roller-skates.

Yzabella Reyes

Instructor

Yzabella Reyes is a 3rd year student at UC Irvine majoring in Biomedical Engineering. Throughout her academic career, Yzabella has enjoyed learning about new mathematics concepts and their applications in the world, which inspired her to pursue an career in engineering. She hopes to help other students recognize their potential in mathematics and grow their passion. In addition to math, Yzabella has technical experience in robotics, computer-aided design, and 3D printing. Aside from math, Yzabella also enjoys journaling and fishing. Favorite Number: 27. Fun Fact: She collects Popmart figurines.

Ashlyn Tolmasoff

Instructor

Ashlyn Tolmasoff is currently a junior at Crean Lutheran High School with plans to major in Neurology. Although math always came easily to her, it wasn’t until she began volunteer tutoring as a freshman that she discovered a genuine passion for the subject — and an even deeper love for teaching it. With three years of tutoring experience, Ashlyn now leads the club where she first started, serving as president of Math4All, which provides free math tutoring to Title 1 elementary and middle schools in underserved communities. Ashlyn is also dedicated to educational service beyond her school, volunteering with organizations like Breakthrough: San Juan Capistrano. Outside of academics and service, she enjoys singing, playing volleyball, and spending time with her friends and family. Favorite Number: 3. Fun Fact: She loves playing Pickleball.

Brock Smith

Instructor

Brock is a current senior at Portola High School and will be attending Cal Poly SLO in the fall to study manufacturing engineering. From a young age, Brock has greatly enjoyed the problem solving process and has grown to love learning challenging mathematical and physics-based concepts. He has also developed a love for helping others through serving in his church’s children ministry. Apart from academics, Brock finds joy in playing guitar/drums, hiking, and working out. Favorite Number: 4. Fun Fact: He can do a handstand.
