Skylar is a Journalism Major from Cal State University of Fullerton, and has been surrounded by a family of educators his whole life. His primary hobby is collecting board games, and teaching new games to friends and family. Just like any game or puzzle, math is all about learning new concepts and putting them to use to achieve a feeling of accomplishment. Working at Mathnasium is a joy because you get to witness students' opinions, enthusiasm and confidence for math increase over time due to frequent successes and “aha!” moments. He has lived in the wonderful city of Fullerton ever since graduating from CSUF. He also loves theme parks, going on walks with his wife, and cooking.
Haya is working towards a Business Management degree at Fullerton College. In her free time when she is not tutoring; she likes to listen to music, play video games and try new restaurants! She is also a massive Swiftie and is one of the many conversation topics she shares with the kids! She likes to teach the younger kids because she grew up with a lot of baby cousins she used to take care of and has grown accustomed to it. She is always looking forward to meeting new students and parents!
Sebastian is a junior at California State University Fullerton. He is currently studying Mathematics with a concentration in Pure Mathematics. He hopes to get his PHD in Physics and become a Particle Physicist. He hopes to get students passionate about Math, and show them that Math is much more than just numbers, it is used to explain everything we know from atoms to planets. Outside of math he loves to cook, workout, and do Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.
Thao is a recent graduate at Cal State University Long Beach with a Bachelor's of Science in Biology. She currently volunteers at UCI Health- Fountain Valley Hospital and has plans to apply to nursing school after completing her prerequisites at Cypress College. Thao’s favorite subject in school has always been math; she hopes students can share her passion and love for math through productive and exciting sessions. Outside of math, she likes to play badminton, crochet, and watch movies with her friends.
Avishi is currently a freshman at Fullerton Community College studying Architecture. She plans on transferring to UCLA or UC Berkeley. Avishi loves teaching students and her favorite subject in math is Geometry. Avishi has taught students math all throughout high school and majority of middle school. Outside of math Avishi enjoys music, art, singing, and roller-skating.
Joshua is currently a junior at Cal State University Fullerton, majoring in computer science. Originally from Orange County, he graduated from Samueli Academy, a charter high school with an emphasis on design and engineering. He is excited about pursuing a career as a software engineer after graduation. In his free time, Joshua enjoys developing side coding projects, trying new foods, and spending time with friends.
Amy is currently a senior at Sunny Hills High School and plans to commit to the University of the Pacific for their 3+3 accelerated dental program. With a strong passion for math and science, she is eager to share her enthusiasm and knowledge with the students at Mathnasium. Outside of academics, Amy enjoys cooking and playing tennis with her friends.
Carlos is currently a student at Fullerton College, majoring in chemistry. He enjoys listening to music and hanging out with friends. His goal is to become a high school chemistry teacher, aiming to be a positive role model for students and to demonstrate how exciting chemistry can be! Carlos believes that math plays a crucial role in understanding chemistry, as it helps explain concepts like chemical reactions and formulas. This connection between math and chemistry is part of the reason he wants to work at Mathnasium—he’s eager to help students strengthen their math skills and see how they apply to real-world sciences. In his spare time, Carlos loves hitting the gym, shopping at thrift stores, and attending local band shows.
