Britney is the Center Director at Mathnasium of Grand Rapids West and brings nearly ten years of experience teaching high school math. She previously taught Geometry and AP Statistics and loved helping students overcome the belief that math is difficult.
She is passionate about building confidence and celebrating student success. Outside of Mathnasium, she enjoys baking, crafting, playing games, and pickleball. She also enjoys spending time with her husband, their pets, and close friends.
Meet our advanced math instructor: Lisa! Lisa has some truly exceptional math skills and is likely to spend most of her time at Grandville working with our older students. She recently (just earlier this month!) earned her degree in Math Education from GVSU. While she is capable of tutoring through Calculus, (if not beyond) her favorite math class was good ole Euclidean Geometry. Lisa is quite the world traveler, and we are sure her students will gain so much more than just math skills from working with her!
Kelly has over 20 years of teaching experience, and currently works during the day as a high school math teacher in Coopersville! Our students love Miss Kelly- she is so patient with students, which gives them the space to try new things! She also is incredibly encouraging, which helps students build their confidence in their math abilities. Kelly loves hockey, she can often be found at her own children's hockey games and also is a Red Wings fan!
Meet another one of our AWESOME instructors: Aamir. A truly exceptional young lady, Aamir will be receiving her Associates Degree in Medical Assisting next year- she completed much of the course work for this degree while still in high school! Aamir has always really enjoyed math and has taken several advanced courses, her favorite so far was Pre-Calculus. She has been peer-tutoring her classmates for years, but is excited to transfer her skills to her role with us at Mathnasium!
Maggie is one of our newest instructors at Mathnasium of Grandville! She is already getting to know our students, and pushing them to give their very best. Her day job is working as a parapro in GRPS! In the spring she will be working towards a masters degree in education, because she aspires to be a Middle School Math Teacher! Maggie has lots of outdoor hobbies including hiking and skiing - she has even worked as a downhill ski instructor.
Maylin is an instructor at Mathnasium and a student at Grand Valley State University studying Medical Laboratory Sciences. She enjoys helping others and hopes to minor in biology or sustainability.
Her favorite math classes include Algebra II and Pre-Calculus, and she enjoys helping students apply what they learn. Outside of Mathnasium, she plays multiple musical instruments and enjoys spending time with her orange tabby cat, Simba.
Jeremy is completing his teacher certification so that he can teach middle school math next year! Jeremy has really enjoyed getting to know our students and having a chance to work with so many different grade levels. Jeremy has two cats that he has named after types of soup. In his free time, Jeremy likes to play DND with friends and do logic puzzles.
Griffin comes to us with experience in math intervention at a few different local middle schools. Griffin likes working to find different ways to support students that are struggling-- often reaching for our hands-on-materials, or thinking of new ways to explain concepts that are tough. He has enjoyed getting to know our students so far! He loves listening to and talking about music, and he has a miniature schnauzer named Martin that makes a funny grumbly noise when he's excited. He calls it revving his engine!
Matt's day job is working as an engineer at Viking. Matt enjoys helping students make cool connections with their work to real world math. He also likes when we play Pokémon war in the center because its fun when our interests as instructors overlaps with the students interests! In his free time he likes to watch football and baseball games with his friends- go Lions and Tigers!
