Our staff is built to teach each student individually, to develop the skills they need to thrive in mathematics, and to foster a love of learning.

Kristine

Lead Instructor
Kristine is a student at Indiana University South Bend pursuing a degree in Accounting. She finds great value in helping others learn techniques that make sense. At IUSB Kristine is also involved with the Titans Mentoring Titans program and the Accounting Association. In her free time, Kristine enjoys spending time with her family and learning free forms of dance including Jazz and Waltz.

Areej

Instructor
Areej is a rising sophomore at Penn High School. She is highly involved in her school; competing in extracurriculars such as Spell Bowl, Debate and Model U.N. while also involved in clubs like Key Club, chess club, & student council. She encourages students to not only understand their math but to excel in it. In her free time, she loves to figure skate, try new foods, sewing and most importantly watch Netflix.

Shayan

Instructor
Shayan is a junior at Penn High School. He loves learning about the world and aspires to become an engineer in the future. At Penn, he is involved in extracurriculars such as Model U.N. and Academic Super Bowl. At Mathnasium, he strives to teach students that math doesn’t have to be boring. In his free time, Shayan loves watching sports, listening to music, and watching TV shows.

Iryna

Instructor
Iryna is a licensed elementary teacher. She currently teaches art in a South Bend elementary school. Iryna loves to implement math and literacy into the art making process. She also has experience teaching six grade math and conducting math intervention in other elementary grade levels. In her spare time, Iryna loves to spend time with her two kids, as well as explore different art forms and techniques, such as watercolor painting and embroidery.

Zaina

Instructor
Zaina is a Senior at Penn High School who aspires to pursue a career in the medical field. While at Penn, she is heavily involved in extracurriculars, some of which include DECA, Model UN, Key Club, Tennis, Kingsmen Against Cancer, Handwritten Hearts, and Student Council. Zaina strongly believes in giving back to her community, which she hopes to continue at Mathnasium through helping students reach their full potential in math. Outside of school, Zaina loves playing golf, hanging out with friends, and traveling all over the world with her parents

Connor

Instructor
Connor is a senior at Penn High School who loves science and medicine. Beyond this, he adores helping people and thinks that help should always be readily available. At school, he participates in a number of extracurriculars but his favorite ones are those in which he can give back, or those that involve some competition. His favorite thing to do is spend time with loved ones.

Hailey

Instructor
Hailey is a Junior at Penn High School who has an interest in the medical field and wants to pursue it in the future. She is involved in Kingsman Tutoring, Freshman Mentoring, Med Club, and Key Club. In her free time she enjoys hanging out with her loved ones, traveling, and watching movies.

Elizabeth Gordeyeva

Instructor
Elizabeth is a Junior at Penn High School who wants to pursue a career in the biomedical field. Outside of school she volunteers at the bioengineering department at Notre Dame. In her free time, Elizabeth enjoys travelling with her family, making jewelry and creating memories with friends.

Diya Lahane

Instructor
Diya is a junior at Penn High School who hopes to pursue a career in the medical field. At Penn, Diya is involved in many extracurriculars, some of which include tennis, orchestra, HOSA, Key Club, and Red Cross. She enjoys helping others and supporting the community frequently, which she hopes to continue doing through Mathnasium! Outside of school, Diya enjoys playing tennis, practicing piano and violin, traveling, and reading.

Tad Husek

Instructor
Tad is a junior at Northridge High School with a strong passion for math and physics. He has loved math for as long as he can remember. Outside of academics, Tad volunteers at his local food pantry and competes in powerlifting. In his free time, he enjoys traveling with family and experiencing different cultures. Through his involvement at Mathnasium, Tad aims to help students reach their full potential in math while fostering a love for curiosity and learning in all aspects of life.

Mehreen Buchh

Instructor
Mehreen is a junior at Penn High School. Aside from Mathnasium, she is involved in clubs at school, including Kingsmen Court, Speech and Key Club. Mehreen hopes to be in the medical profession in the future. In her spare time, she enjoys baking, traveling and spending time with her friends.

Pete Newell

Instructor
Pete is a graduate of Illinois State University with a BS in Mathematics. During college, he tutored Business math and Calculus in ISU's Math department. He moved to South Bend in 1984, where he worked as a Reliability/Test Engineer for Allied-Signal Aerospace. He later went to work for the Whirlpool Corporation as a Validation/Test Engineer until retiring in November 2020. While at Whirlpool, Pete volunteered as an instructor in the Engineering Explorers program, which introduced engineering topics to junior and high school students through hands-on projects. In his free time, Pete enjoys listening to music, playing guitar and astronomy.

Ranveer Verma

Instructor
Veer is a sophomore at Penn High School who wishes to pursue a career in the medical field one day. At Penn, Veer is involved in many extracurriculars such as Model UN, DECA, Hosa, Debate, and Key Club. He enjoys volunteering and helping the community frequently, which he hopes to continue doing through Mathnasium. Outside of school Veer plays tennis, violin, and loves playing pickleball with friends.

Kaiyi Zhao

Instructor
Kaiyi is a sophomore at Penn High School who has enjoyed math from a young age. Currently, he has a strong passion for business and computer science. At school, Kaiyi is involved in several extracurricular activities, including Speech and Debate, Deca, Hosa, and tennis. He enjoys spending time with his friends and playing pickleball in his free time.

Alice Zhang

Instructor
Alice is an incoming sophomore at Penn High School. She has a strong passion for math and has participated in numerous math related extracurriculars, including MathCounts coaching and Math Academic Super Bowl. With these experiences, she is hoping to share the fascination math possesses at Mathnasium. Beyond school, Alice also enjoys playing piano and violin, crocheting, and hanging out with friends.

Joshua Seluzhitskiy

Instructor
Joshua is a sophomore at Penn High School who aspires to one day work in the medical field. At school, Joshua is involved in numerous extracurriculars such as HOSA, DECA, Speech and Debate, and Swimming and Diving. He believes learning is the only thing the mind never exhausts, never fears, and never regrets. Outside of an academic setting he enjoys traveling and spending time with those closest to him.
