Sharon Mattox

Client Care Specialist
Sharon is retired from a career in the classroom, but she is so happy to be back in a child-supporting role! She is loving seeing some familiar faces and enjoying the freedom and flexibility our program allows her in this season of life. She and her husband enjoy spending time with their grandchildren and traveling. We're so glad she's here!

Ed Alport

Lead Instructor
Ed is a retired engineer with a lifetime of math skills. In his free time, he and his wife, Caren, enjoy traveling the world. (His favorite food is Thai!) His career with applied mathematics resonates with our high school students because he can testify that you really can use this math in real life! He enjoys the challenging homework students bring in and often brings in challenging problems for the rest of the team to exercise our math muscles.

Favorite Math Joke: Where is the best place to sit in a room if you are feeling cold? ... The corner, because it's always 90 degrees!

I love Mathnasium because: It provides me an opportunity to help young folks become proficient in math, to excel in their current classes and be well-prepared for their higher education math courses in college. In addition, I love answering the question, "How is any of this ever used?" As a mechanical engineer, I can provide the students ample examples of how useful math is to everyday life. In fact, life would not exist, as we know it, without math.
