Lead Instructor
Ellen graduated from Northen Illinois University with a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education, and a minor in Math. She later recieved her Master's degree in Math Education from National Lewis University. Ellen began her career teaching at the elementary level. Then, her passion for math inspired her to specialize, so Ellen moved on to teach Middle School math. Over the years she taught at many levels, from remedial classes to Honors Algebra 1. Ellen taught on the North Shore for over a decade, and then in a Northwest suburb until she retired. She loves working with students on a more individualized basis, so she was excited when she discovered Mathnasium. "Not only does an understanding of math result in academic accomplishments, but it also enables students to more clearly interperet their world. The mathnasium program is an outstanding resource, and I look forward to helping students understand and enjoy math."

Center Owner
Omar graduated from the Northwestern University McCormick School of Engineering with a bachelor of science in civil engineering. After working as a civil engineer for three years following graduation, Omar fed his hunger for entrepreneurship by starting his own construction business, which is still in operation today. Omar was drawn to Mathnasium because it offered something different from other after-school instructional programs, particularly its focus on practical elements of math such as problem solving and mental math. Omar serves on the boards of two private schools in the Western Suburbs of Chicago where he lives with his wife and their three children.

Yash Gupta is currently a junior at Hinsdale Central High School taking Multivariable Calculus. Yash has always enjoyed math because he saw math problems as puzzle and fun challenges for him to solve. Because of this, he was driven to work at mathnasium to help others find that same enthusiasm for math.

Elizabeth is currently in AP Calc BC and loves math because it is the universal language that connects us all and always has a process and answer to a problem. She likes working at Mathnasium because it provides her with the opportunity to teach kids and watch them grow with guidance and skills that’ll support them throughout their life.

Hi! My name is Ava. I am currently a junior taking AP Calculus AB at Hinsdale Central High School. I was a student at Mathnasium for many years and it had a huge impact on my school performance and my appreciation for the subject. As a result, I decided to become a mathnasium instructor so I could support other kids in their journey as a math student! I really enjoy working here and getting to work with the students and see their passion for math grow!

My name is Dominic Kent and I am a junior at Lyons Township. I chose to work at Mathnasium Becuase I want to give children the opportunity that I was so lucky to have when I was younger. I am now taking multiple AP math courses aspiring to become a mechanical engineer at the University of Illinois.

Hi, the students call me Mr. Khyree. I have been tutoring over grades 1-12 for over 3 years, and I have also worked at Hinsdale South for the same amount of time. I am currently finishing a bachelors in mathematics with a secondary education focus. I have always had a love for math, but I recognize the information does not always come easily to everyone. I find great joy in finding the best ways to instruct math for all students, and my ultimate aim is to foster a positive relationship towards math for all students.

Hello I'm Nolan. I am a senior at Lyons Township High School. In my free time, I love to bowl and am on my schools bowling team. I am also co captain of the chess team and esports team at my school. I love teaching at mathnasium because teaching is a career path I am considering. I hope I can have a good impact on kids by treating them fair and respectfully as teachers haven't always done that to me, also kids are very fun to work with because they are very creative and bring new ideas to the table.

Willy Kang

Sachin Thakrar

Hi I’m Sachin! I’m a senior at Hinsdale Central high school, and am interested in possibly going into teaching later in life. I myself used to be a student here and jumped at the opportunity to help kids the same way this place helped me. Math has long been one of my favorite subjects, and I hope to spark the same love inside the kids here too.

Our Mathnasium Mission

Teach children math so they understand it, master it, and love it. Math can change their lives, and they can change the world.

What I love about Mathnasium is the ability to teach problem-solving skills and make math make sense, while also making a student smile.
