Our staff is built to teach each student individually, to develop the skills they need to thrive in mathematics, and to foster a love of learning.

Kathryn Collins

Lead Instructor
My name is Kathryn Collins and I have been teaching math since 2016 after I graduated from college at UAB with my degree in math education. I spent 3 years teaching at a private school and 3 years teaching in a public school. I decided to join Mathnasium in 2022 where I am enjoying the opportunity to see students grow in mathematical confidence and ability at a one on one level. I love spending time with my husband, working puzzles, playing board games, and going to the movies.

Logan Camp

@home Instructor
My name is Logan Camp and I am a senior at Oak Mountain High School. I have always enjoyed helping people as well as doing math, so teaching at Mathnasium is a wonderful job for me. In my free time, I enjoy playing video games as well as fencing, which is a kind of sword fighting. So far, I have really enjoyed helping students learn math here at Mathnasium in fun, simple ways.

Anushka Patel

@home Instructor
My name is Anushka Patel, and I am a junior majoring in Neuroscience at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. I have always loved math, and teaching at Mathnasium has been a wonderful and rewarding opportunity to be able to help so many students progress in their math ability. In my free time, I enjoy playing badminton and reading an adventure novel.

Chase Parks

My name is Chase Parks and I am a senior at Spain Park High School. I love teaching all ages and have enjoyed math as fun number puzzles, so I joined the Mathnasium team as soon as I was old enough! Besides these things, I have enjoyed art and percussion for a long time. I plan to continue a career centering on improving the lives of kids as I enter college.

Will Blue

My name is Will Blue and I am a retired engineer after 25 years in the industry (20 in automotive manufacturing). I currently teach 4th grade math and science at Pleasant Grove Elementary and I love helping kids achieve their math goals! I am married to my wife of 28 years and have 2 lovely daughters. In my spare time, I enjoy sports and flying drones. I love Mathnasium for their techniques and the tools they teach to make math more understandable and relatable!

Joseph Mudano

Sam Jacobson

My name is Samuel Jacobson. I am a junior at Westminster School at Oak Mountain. I really enjoy basic nerd things like video games, DnD, chess, and any junk food. I don't know what I want to do in my future yet, but I know that I want to be a positive influence on those around me. Mathnasium allows me to do that by teaching and helping kids learn math.

Helen Farley

My name is Helen Farley and I am a senior at Oak Mountain High School. Math has always been my best subject, and my job at Mathnasium has given me the amazing opportunity to combine those skills with my passion for helping others. After I graduate I plan on going to school to become a chemical engineer. I love solving puzzles and finding ways to apply my skills to real life situations, and I love that at Mathnasium, I can help others to the same.

Carson Grubbs

My name is Carson Grubbs, I am a current junior attending Oak Mountain High School. I have been on the math team at my high school all three (and going to be) four years. I have already been math tutoring on the side, but also I love to help people as well. Joining Mathnasium was inevitable as I love to not only work math problems, but to help kids understand challenging problems. Nothing more rewarding then an “ohhh I finally understand this.” Once I graduate, I plan on majoring in mathematics and becoming a teacher. Mathnasium is just one more step that allows me to not only get to that dream, but allow students to have a similar successful experience and passion in math.

Our Mathnasium Mission

Teach children math so they understand it, master it, and love it. Math can change their lives, and they can change the world.

What I love about Mathnasium is the ability to teach problem-solving skills and make math make sense, while also making a student smile.
