Eman Yousef

Center Director
Eman recently graduated from Benedictine University with a degree in mathematics. Eman has always loved teaching and giving others a helping hand. She understands that schoolwork can get overwhelming and difficult at times and is happy to be able to ease that stress for others. Throughout the years, Eman has always found herself helping her younger siblings as well as her peers with homework assignments and studying. Eman is grateful for all the help from classmates and teachers along the way and would love to be able to pay that back to others who need it. Eman hopes to teach as a professor one day so tutoring at Mathnasium is an incredible opportunity for her! Fun Fact: Eman has a collection of snow globes from all over the world!

Jena Kanaan

Lead Instructor
Jena is currently a junior at Saint Xavier University, majoring in Elementary Education. She has a great passion for education, in both learning and in teaching. She also has completed a minor in English as a Second Language and plans to minor in Special Education as well. She has taken a variety of math classes in high school including Geometry, Algebra, Pre-Calculus, AP Calculus, AP Statistics; as well as College Algebra, and Math For Teachers I and II in college. She has tutored math for four years in high school and has found great pleasure in assisting students, encouraging progress, building bonds, and most importantly making math make sense! In her free time, Jena enjoys reading and spending time with her family, friends, and cats, Nala and Levi! Fun Fact: Jena has taken Spanish for 6 years and has a seal of biliteracy in Spanish. She can speak both Spanish and Arabic fluently!


Kevin is currently a Junior at the University of Illinois at Chicago where he is getting his bachelor’s degree in Teaching of Mathematics. He was previously studying Aerospace Engineering at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign before deciding to pursue a career in education. He has studied Calculus, Linear Algebra, and Differential Equations, and applied them in Physics/Engineering courses. He understands how crucial a solid foundation in mathematics is in STEM education and the value of a good tutor. Kevin is interested in space and science in general, as well as computers. He sets up Minecraft worlds for his cousins to build and explore in. He’s very excited to work with all the amazing Mathnasium students! Fun Fact: Kevin builds gaming computers as a hobby!


Rachel is a student at Lyons Township High School who loves music, her friends and family, and math! She is so happy to be a Mathnasium instructor and spread the fun and understanding of math. Outside of the center, Rachel also plays clarinet in her high school band, and at home she has 4 pet chinchillas!


Molly is currently a junior at Lyons Township High School. She has completed Algebra I and II, Geometry, and is currently taking Precalculus. Molly has been tutoring peers in math and various sciences, such as Chemistry and Physics, throughout her high school career and loves helping others to understand difficult subjects. She is very excited to help kids find joy in doing math! In her free time, Molly enjoys listening to music, reading, and playing guitar. Fun Fact: Molly currently sings in three different choirs!


Lilly is currently a junior at Lyons Township High School. During her time there, she has taken Geometry, Algebra II, Pre-calc, and plans on taking AP Calculus next year. She enjoys helping others and often tutors her little brother for his school work. Lilly has always found more interest in math and science subjects in school and hopes to study Environmental Science in college. A fun fact about Lilly is that she speaks Spanish fluently!


Eric is a junior at the University of Illinois at Chicago, and currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Chemistry. Some of his interests include reading classical books, playing guitar, spending time with his dog Lucas, and playing Pokémon. In high school, Eric excelled in every math class he took and would occasionally help his peers with their math homework when they didn’t understand it. Eric has also studied a wide range of math in college to prepare him for becoming a scientist, like Calculus, Statistics, and Physics. Eric knows how fundamental math is in science, so he wants to help others understand math in order for it to not become an obstacle for others that want to pursue a career in STEM. His dream is to become a scientific researcher in the chemical field. He plans on completing this goal by going to graduate school and getting his masters in organic chemistry to eventually work on developing new medicines or improving common materials. Fun fact: Eric has gone hiking in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado.


Finn is a Junior at Lyons Township High School. He has completed Algebra I and II, Geometry, and Pre-Calculus, and is now taking AP Calculus. He loves learning Math and Science concepts and wants to help others to do the same! In his free time, Finn enjoys traveling, watching Formula 1 races, and making pizzas. Fun Fact: Finn does rock climbing at LT High School.


Emma is currently a junior at Riverside Brookfield High School. She is interested in the intersection of computer science + policy, and is particularly passionate about how technology can be leveraged to support marginalized communities. To add, she has a passion for female empowerment and access to STEM education, and she hopes she can make her impact here at Mathnasium! In her free time, she enjoys coding, thrifting, listening to Fleetwood Mac, watching rom-coms, and drinking iced matcha lattes with oat milk! Fun fact: Her favorite dessert is mangonada!


Giselle recently graduated with a degree in Mathematics from Governors State University. She studied Calculus, Linear Algebra, Abstract Algebra, Probability and Statistics, and Mathematical Modeling. Giselle has been tutoring math since her sophomore year of high school. Giselle initially wanted to be a high school math teacher, but during her undergrad, she was a Research Fellow and she genuinely enjoyed it. She realized that data analysis is similar to researching, so now she is beginning her career as a Data Analyst. After tutoring for so many years, Giselle was not ready to stop; thus, she joined the Mathnasium team to continue changing the negative perspective that many students have of math and to make it an intriguing and fun subject for them. In her free time, when she is not with family, she is reading, playing Animal Crossing or Kirby games, and looking for Funko Pops from her favorite movies and TV shows. Fun Fact: Giselle is trying to teach herself how to play the piano.


Senna is a Junior at the University of Illinois at Chicago pursuing a Bachelor's of Science degree in Psychology with aspirations of becoming a dedicated researcher in the field. She loves teaching and helping people understand what math is really about. Senna has taken many math classes during high school, such as Geometry, Algebra I, Statistics, Pre-Calculus, and AP Calculus from high school. They have helped her assist fellow students and tutor younger learners. Beyond academics, Senna loves to read books, draw cartoons, and spend quality time with friends as well as bake treats for her family and friends! She is excited to work with Mathnasium and help students find their enthusiasm and passion for math. Fun Fact: Senna has a chocolate addiction and maintains a secret stash!


Alannah is a current senior at Lyons Township High School. She is currently taking AP Calculus and hopes to major in biomedical engineering in college. She enjoys helping others, especially when it comes to math, and her goal is to help others love math as much as she does! She competes on varsity Track and Field and enjoys going on runs in her free time. Fun fact: Alannah Irish danced competitively for almost twelve years!


Yanette is currently a student at Triton College with a major in nursing. She graduated from East Leyden High School in Franklin Park. Every math class Yanette has taken just "clicked", and she often found herself enjoying the fact that she could help her peers better understand the material. During her time at Leyden, she completed Geometry, Algebra II, Pre calculus and some Calculus. Math and Science have always been her favorite subjects in school. In her free time, she enjoys playing the guitar, reading just about any book available, and experimenting with the color of her hair. Fun Fact: Yanette's first language is Spanish and has dual-citizenship for the United States and Mexico!


Evelyn is currently a senior at Nazareth Academy. She has completed Algebra I and II, Geometry, Precalculus, AP Calculus AB, and is currently taking AP Calculus BC. She enjoys tutoring peers in math and science, and is excited to share her love for math at Mathnasium. Evelyn is hoping to study Engineering and Environmental Science in college. Fun Fact: Evelyn loves to spend her free time baking!


Katrina is a DePaul University Graduate with a BFA in studio art and a minor in art history, mathematics, and illustration. She has taken college courses in calculus 3, multi variable calculus, number theory, quantitative reasoning, and design geometry. She has always had a passion for math and a desire to teach. Her breadth of education has allowed her the opportunity to approach material from multiple perspectives, understanding that not everyone is a traditional “math person” but everyone can grow to understand and even greatly improve when n attentive alternative methods of teaching, and patience are used. Fun Fact: Katrina still has two baby teeth!


Jessie is currently a junior at the University of Illinois at Chicago pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, aspiring to work on the software of operating systems in her future career as a software developer. She has always been interested in STEM, particularly Technology and Mathematics, and has taken Calculus, Discrete Math, Algebra, Trigonometry, Pre-Calc, and Geometry, and is taking Linear Algebra currently. Beyond academics, Jessie finds genuine fulfillment in extending a helping hand to her peers during challenging times in class as well as helping her younger sister with homework. A lover of tea, she drinks it almost daily and enjoys immersing herself in books or listening to music. Fun fact: Jessie was born outside of America!


Omar is a Grad student at Governor's State University perusing a Master's of Science in Computer Science. They have always been passionate for Math, being put into the honors program in 5th grade and moved up to the advance honors program in 8th. Omar is excited to start helping students at Mathnasium with the subject they've had a knack for since they were a child! In their free time, Omar enjoys playing video games - mostly fighting games and RPGs - reading comic books, and building with Legos. Fun Fact: Omar has two cats that were taken off the street, named Midnight and Tails!

Laura is a former math and technology adjunct professor. In addition to corporate training and private technology tutoring, she tutors math, physics, chemistry, and prep for ACT and SAT tests, and volunteer tutors underprivileged high school and undergraduate students. Since the pandemic, she has tutored virtually and created How to Join and How to Run Virtual Meetings courses. She loves seeing the light in students’ eyes as they master math and become enthusiastic about learning. Fun Fact: She used to mountain climb; now enjoys scuba diving and VR.
