FAQ
You'll find us in Sycamore Plaza at 22369 El Toro Road, Lake Forest, CA 92630, right near Stater Bros. Markets, Starbucks, and Chipotle. Parking is plentiful, so drop-off and pick-up fit easily into a busy family schedule.
If your family needs more flexibility on certain days, students can also join live, face-to-face online sessions with our specially trained tutors in Lake Forest.
Quizzes, midterms, and finals all draw from the same pool of math knowledge, and that's exactly what we build at Mathnasium of Lake Forest.
When students enroll, they start with a diagnostic assessment that shows us exactly where they stand. We build a personalized learning plan from those insights, targeting the knowledge gaps and foundational skills that affect performance across all classroom assessments.
Our specially trained tutors work with students across any K-12 math topic, from elementary foundations through Precalculus and beyond, and can shift focus to align with upcoming quizzes, midterms, or final exams when the time comes.
Yes! We help students master the specific skills evaluated on the CAASPP and Smarter Balanced (SBAC) assessments. Rather than training students to memorize short-term test tricks, our tutors ground their instruction in the California Common Core State Standards. By focusing on deep conceptual understanding, students naturally build the problem-solving confidence they need to excel on state testing days.
Because the CAASPP measures cumulative math proficiency built over an entire school year, steady, ongoing support always beats a last-minute review. We highly recommend starting at the beginning of the school year or semester. This gives our team sufficient time to close foundational gaps and build skills systematically.
However, if testing season is already right around the corner, contact us—we can customize a targeted, high-impact plan for the weeks you have left.
We do! Our specially trained tutors prepare high school students for the math sections of the SAT®, PSAT®, and ACT®, using proprietary test prep materials and personalized learning plans built around each student's current skills and target score.
First-time test-takers and students looking to improve an existing score are both welcome. Preparation starts from where your student is, not from a one-size-fits-all syllabus.
We recommend beginning your preparation three to six months before the exam date.
Both the Digital SAT® and the ACT® require a true mastery of algebra, functions, and data analysis, while also heavily testing geometry and trigonometry. Rushing through this material often backfires because underlying foundational gaps slow down a student's pacing.
Giving your student a few months of lead time ensures they have the space to build fluency with exam-style questions and enter the test center feeling confident.
Test prep at Mathnasium of Lake Forest is offered as part of a flat monthly membership fee. The exact cost depends on your student's personalized plan and session schedule.
Call us at (949) 868-6488 or email [email protected] and we'll walk you through the options and help you find a plan that fits.
For the SAT®, PSAT®, or ACT®, two sessions per week over three to six months is a realistic starting point, but your student's diagnostic assessment will give us a much clearer picture than any general guideline can.
For the CAASPP or classroom exams, the timeline is often shorter, depending on where your student is starting from and what they need to work on.
We do! Students can log into live, face-to-face online sessions with our local Lake Forest tutors. They will use the exact same personalized learning plan and receive the same interactive instruction they would experience inside our center.
Not at all. Whether your student walks through our doors in Sycamore Plaza or logs in from home, they work with the same local Lake Forest tutors, follow the exact same personalized learning plan, and receive the same level of caring face-to-face math instruction.
Many local families use a hybrid approach, shifting between the center and online learning to keep their schedules manageable as exam timelines tighten.
Our tutors are deeply familiar with the California Common Core State Standards and understand the unique curriculum demands of schools throughout the Lake Forest area.
When it supports a student's goals, we align their personalized learning plan with state standards and classroom content, so progress at Mathnasium translates directly to performance at school.
Start by scheduling a free diagnostic assessment. Call us at (949) 868-6488 or email [email protected] and we'll set one up.
The assessment gives us a clear picture of your student's skills, gaps, and exam goals. We use that to build their personalized learning plan, and most students start sessions within a few days.
