Meet the Team at Mathnasium of Lake Mary

Lynn Byfield

Having spent the last decade in education, Lynn has a strong passion and sense of belonging working with students to build their confidence through learning. After seven years as a teacher for Seminole County Public Schools, culminating with her recognition as Teacher of the Year in 2013, Lynn stepped away from the classroom and into her next chapter with a steadfast commitment: “helping children gain the confidence to succeed both inside and outside the classroom.” In 2013, Lynn opened Mathnasium of Lake Mary, in the community that she and her family have called home for the past 30 years, to do just that. Over the last seven years, Lynn and her center have received community and national recognition for their commitment to helping students conquer math through number sense and advocating for their own math skills. Most notably, the Mathnasium of Lake Mary was awarded the #1 Mathnasium in the Nation for “Right Instruction” - recognizing the center for its incredible team of instructors and their aptitude with the “Mathnasium Method” (quite the high praise with over 1,000 amazing Mathnasium’s out there!) In 2020, Lynn was thrilled to open her second center, Mathnasium of Lake Brantley, to continue to give back to her community, advocate for her students, and build strong math students by “making math make sense”.

Emily Byfield

Emily is a multi-tasker who handles the ebb and flow of the center, while signing in our in-center and @home students for their sessions. She also answers the phone, greets our Mathletes and parents, along with keeping the reward cabinet fully stocked and more. Emily’s favorite Sanrio character is Hangyodon!

Pareen Dhalla

Pareen holds a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education at the University of Central Florida. She is currently a 4th grade teacher at Hamilton Elementary School. She has been teaching within her community for the past seven years and has loved every second of it. Her favorite thing about teaching is being able to watch the children grasp a concept and seeing the light bulb going on in their head. Pareen has a passion for teaching and loves sharing her knowledge with others.

Jean-Raphael Mercier

Jean-Raphael majored in Math and Aerospace Engineering while attending Penn State University. While there, he led study sessions and assisted with math and engineering classes. As Lead @Home Instructor, Jean-Raphael helps with daily operations along with being a mentor to Instructors while ensuring the Mathnasium Method is being implemented. His patient and calming demeanor is an asset while working with our Mathletes and communicating with our parents. He has a passion for languages and is fluent in French while learning Italian.

David Bloomberg

David is a retired Seminole County Public School Elementary Gifted Teacher, who enjoys working with students of all ages. Mathnasium keeps him busy several days a week, as he works with our mathletes on their foundational skills. In addition to his days at Mathnasium, David also has passion for playing the violin and exploring central Florida parks.

Lauren Hasloecher

Lauren graduated from Stetson University with a B.S. degree in Bio-Chemistry. She has always excelled in math and science. As Lead Instructor, Lauren helps with daily operations along with being a mentor to Instructors while ensuring the Mathnasium Method is being implemented. Her attention to detail and positive attitude is very motivating to her students and keeps everyone on task. Lauren is always excited to talk about theme parks and dinosaurs.

Michael Pollard

Michael has always had a passion for math and helping young people. He has worked with Odyssey of the Mind and continues to volunteer in local classrooms in his free time. Michael enjoys helping the Lyman High School math department. As an Instructor Michael dedicates his time to working with each student on their individual level. Fun Fact! Michael has previously lived in California!

Zanders Charles

Zanders is someone who embraces his life and is constantly working to improve himself. As a Mathnasium Instructor he is always looking for ways to help students succeed and have fun while doing so. Zanders has lived in several different countries and has a passion for life.
