Word Problem Wednesday: Halloween Candy!

Oct 30, 2019 | Laurelwood

It’s almost Halloween and you know what that means… Halloween candy! If you’re lucky, your math tutor can use the treasure from your trick-or-treating expedition to make your tutoring math sessions fun and delicious!

Math programs for kids can use Halloween candy for math fun by asking students to count candy, to sort candy...or to try out this week’s word problem challenge! Students can practice their elementary math skills such as weights and measures, multiplication and division, and more.

Go ahead and give it a try, and be sure to come back tomorrow to check your solution against ours!

Question: Would you rather have one half of a chocolate bar that weighs 10 ounces or one half of a chocolate bar that weighs 16 ounces? Draw a picture of the candy bars to show why.
