Christian brings 17 years of experience in math and business education. He began his journey as a Mathnasium instructor in 2008 while studying at UC Berkeley, where he graduated with honors in applied mathematics and economics. Christian went on to earn his Ph.D. from UCLA as a National Science Foundation Fellow. Since 2017, he has been an assistant professor of Operations and Business Analytics at The Ohio State University.
He’s passionate about helping every child build confidence and a love for math. Nothing excites him more than seeing a student light up with a math “aha!” moment.
Christian lives with his wife and their two young daughters, ages one and three.
Arlene, Christian’s spouse, is a proud full-time mom to two wonderful girls. With over 12 years of experience at multinational companies, L’Oreal and Modelez International, she has successfully launched over 100 campaigns across Southeast Asia. In addition to driving business growth, Arlene was recognized at Mondelez International for fostering a positive company culture and making it a great workplace.
At Mathnasium, Arlene is excited to blend her professional expertise with her personal experiences to strengthen partnerships with parents, instructors, and the community, all while supporting kids on their unique math journeys.
Originally from Garwood, New Jersey, Marshall served in the United States Marine Corps from 2013 to 2018. After his service, he pursued a degree in math education, completing five semesters between 2018 and 2020. He is now studying finance at The Ohio State University. With his diverse background and dedication to learning, we’re proud to have Marshall as one of our instructors!
Mike holds both a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in History from Michigan State University, with a minor in math. After earning his teaching certification, he taught high school math in both Michigan and Illinois. For the past six years, Mike has brought his passion for education to Mathnasium in a variety of roles.
When he’s not helping students succeed in math, Mike enjoys reading science fiction and watching sci-fi and classic films.
Favorite Number: 0 – “because it’s such a troublemaker!”
Fun Fact: As a child, Mike witnessed the historic launch of Apollo 8.
With 38 years of experience as a math teacher and guidance counselor, Jane brings deep expertise and heart to her role at Mathnasium. She especially enjoys working with upper elementary and middle school students and loves witnessing their “aha” moments when true understanding clicks.
Outside of Mathnasium, Jane sings in a choir, solves puzzles, and works part-time as a caregiver. She views math as “God’s universal language” and is passionate about helping students grow not just as math thinkers, but as good citizens. We’re proud to have Jane on our team!
