Things we love about Mathnasium of Littleton!

Feb 14, 2024 | Littleton

Q: What do you love most about working at Mathnasium?

Employee Answer: "Although it might sound cliche, it’s the kids," says Makenzie. "We have so many very lovely students that attend Mathnasium who make going to work a pleasure. Everyone at Mathnasium wants the kids to succeed and we work very hard in order to accomplish our main goal: helping students get better at math while having a great time doing it!"

Vishnu also says it is the kids that makes working at Mathnasium so great. "Each one of them is special and has a different, interesting way of learning."

Connor added, "While I do enjoy connecting with our students and helping them understand math, I expected that part of the job. What I didn’t expect was just how various concepts that I learned in high school and/or college had their roots in more basic math. Proportions, for example, are used to motivate a concept in calculus called the derivative, yet are introduced to students in elementary school. Mathnasium’s curriculum is built around this progression from simple to complicated; as students progress, they see the same concepts but with increasing levels of difficulty. So as I work with students, I get a sense of satisfaction seeing the connections between different levels of the same concept."

Q: What subject did you love most when you were in school?

Employee Answer: Makenzie and Vishnu both love science. Makenzie says, "I really enjoy science and math. These are commonly the most challenging courses, but they are also the most rewarding. My love for math and science has lead me to also appreciate my engineering courses. I have enjoyed the combination of math, science, and engineering so much that I plan to continue it into college" whereas Vishnu says, hands down science is his favorite subject. Both are planning to attend Colorado School of Mines in the fall after graduating from high school this May.

Reyna's favorite subjects in school were art and music, both of which have roots and deep connections to math. She graduated from CSU in 2022 with a degree planning to become a teacher, and is now the Assistant Center Director at Mathnasium of Littleton.
