Have you ever wondered what goes on inside Mathnasium of Marana?

Jan 13, 2023 | Marana

Today you’ll get a glimpse into the happenings of your local center as we follow students through their first experience at Mathnasium of Marana.

Q: What is the first thing a brand new student does at your center?

A: Take a comprehensive math assessment.

Q: What is the comprehensive assessment? How long does it take to finish?

A: The comprehensive assessment's purpose is to identify exactly where the gaps in a student's learning are. Based on their answers we create a customized learning plan designed to address these gaps that the student will work on should they be enrolled at Mathnasium. These learning plans only contain material that the assessment indicated were areas of struggle; we want to only give students topics to help them grow! The whole assessment process takes on average about an hour to an hour and fifteen minutes to complete.

Q: How often should I bring my student to Mathnasium of Marana?

A: We highly recommend that you bring your student in two to three times per week. That way they can work on their learning plans at a steady pace.

Q: Who are the people teaching my child?

A: All of our instructors are individuals who have demonstrated an eagerness to work with students as well as pass a mathematical competency test.

Some of the instructors your child may meet while attending sessions here at the Mathnasium of Marana include Amelia, our assistant center director and a sophomore at the UofA; Amy, a graduate of the UofA and a former ThinkTank tutor; Brenda, a retired calculus teacher; Calvin, a graduate from the UC Santa Barbara who majored in physics; James, another graduate of the UofA who worked at another Mathnasium prior to joining ours; and Sarah, a senior at the UofA who is majoring in mathematics.

Q: When can I bring my child into Mathnasium of Marana?

A: The Mathnasium of Marana is open Sunday thru Thursday. On Sundays we're open from 2:00pm to 6:00pm, and Monday thru Thursday we're open from 3:00pm to 7:00pm. All appointments are flexible; as long as we have the space, we can accommodate your student at any time that works best for you.

Q: How do you motivate your students at Mathnasium of Marana?
