Eric G

Assistant Center Director

Eric is currently attending Pima Community College with plans to transfer to the University of Arizona to study Electrical Engineering. He’s passionate about math, problem-solving, and building student confidence through clear explanations and supportive instruction. 

When he’s not tutoring, Eric enjoys playing classical guitar, gaming, and spending time with friends. He’s also active in Greek Life and the Pima Engineering Club. His energy and enthusiasm help make Mathnasium a welcoming and engaging place for students of all ages. 

Brenda U

Instructor

Brenda brings over 25 years of experience teaching math to her role at Mathnasium. She holds a degree in Math Education from the University of Arizona and has a deep understanding of how students grow and learn. 

Passionate about building student confidence, Brenda splits her time between Mathnasium and working part-time at her church. She enjoys reading Jane Austen novels and watching their film adaptations. Her favorite getaways involve visiting her son, who is currently stationed with the Navy in San Diego. 

Patrick Xi

Instructor

Xi graduated from the University of Arizona with a degree in Applied Mathematics. With prior tutoring experience in China and a passion for math education, he’s excited to help students gain a deeper understanding of math concepts. 

He plans to return to UofA to pursue a Master’s degree. When he’s not working or studying, Xi enjoys cooking and staying active at the gym. He brings a balanced and thoughtful approach to tutoring, helping students grow both academically and personally. 

Louis L

Instructor

Louis is a junior at University High School with a strong passion for math—he’s currently taking vector calculus! He loves exploring new challenges and sharing his enthusiasm for problem-solving with students.

Beyond math, Louis enjoys playing ping pong, stargazing, hiking, and tennis. He is also an active member of his school’s astronomy and robotics clubs and serves as the President of the VEX Robotics Club. In his free time, he enjoys building random electronics just for fun! Louis is excited to help students grow in their math skills and confidence.

Kwame A

Instructor

Kwame is a graduate of BASIS Oro Valley and will be attending Pima Community College to study sociology. He loves math and enjoys tutoring students, helping them build confidence and problem-solving skills.

A big sports fan, Kwame enjoys both basketball and football—and he even gives back to the community by coaching a little league football team! He is excited to support students on their math journey and make learning a fun and engaging experience.

Jack A

Instructor

Jack is a mathematics major at the University of Arizona with a strong appreciation for how math connects to the world around us. Whether he’s studying or working on a hands-on project, he sees how problem-solving, patterns, and logical thinking play a role in everything—from design to everyday decisions. At Mathnasium, Jack enjoys helping students make those same connections, so math feels more useful, relevant, and approachable.

When he’s not studying or working, Jack spends time on creative projects. He enjoys video games, leatherworking, sewing, and designing unique pieces by hand. His mix of analytical thinking and creativity brings a thoughtful, engaging style to his work with students.

Phoenix W

Instructor

Phoenix is a student at the University of Arizona with a passion for learning and problem-solving. He loves the challenge and satisfaction that comes from working through a math problem on his own and is eager to help students experience that same confidence and clarity.

In his free time, Phoenix enjoys playing the drums, diving into good books, and exploring philosophy. He’s excited to support students on their math journey and help them build a strong foundation for success.
