Our staff is built to teach each student individually, to develop the skills they need to thrive in mathematics, and to foster a love of learning.

Mayra Ornelas

Regional Director

Mayra graduated from UCLA with a Bachelor of Science in Psychobiology and brings a thoughtful, encouraging energy to her role as Center Director. She loves listening to music, cheering on the Dodgers, and spending quality time with family and friends.

At Mathnasium, Mayra’s favorite moments are when students grasp a difficult concept and light up with excitement. She believes math is for everyone—and she’s passionate about helping each student see their own potential.

Samson Dorff

A lifelong Angeleno and former Mathnasium student himself, Samson brings both passion and relatability to his instruction. He’s committed to making math concepts simple and engaging for every learner.

When he’s not at the center, Samson enjoys playing guitar and practicing martial arts.

Matthew Gross

Assistant Center Director

Hi, my name is Matthew! I graduated from UCSD with a B.S. in Computer Engineering. I've tutored math and computer science in the past, and I love working at Mathnasium because I get to use that experience to help make a difference in my community. One particular aspect that I enjoy about Mathnasium is helping kids gain confidence and understanding when it comes to a variety of math concepts. In my free time, I enjoy gaming, playing jazz and orchestral music with my friends, rock climbing, speedcubing, listening to music, and watching movies.

Greiceri

Instructor

Greiceri recently graduated from California State University, Los Angeles, with a bachelor's degree in mathematics. He is passionate about teaching and aspires to become a high school math teacher. His love for math began in third grade when he first learned the times tables, and it has only grown stronger since. He finds great joy in working with students, watching them develop their math skills and appreciation for the subject. Outside of mathematics, Greiceri enjoys running, practicing kickboxing, watching anime, and reading manga.

John

Instructor
John is a former software engineer with a PhD in math. He believes in making math as exciting as possible and enjoys helping students gain a deeper understanding of complex material. He enjoys reading, hiking, and playing volleyball.

Imani

Instructor

Hi! My name is Imani and I’m an incoming first year Cognitive Science major at UCLA. During my free time I like to  bake, play video games, play guitar, and hike. I love working at Mathnasium because I enjoy helping students grow and develop their skills in math—a subject I am passionate about. I know what it feels like to struggle in math and it is super rewarding to help students feel confident

Boren

Instructor

Hello! My name is Boren, and starting this September I will be a second-year Applied Mathematics major at UCLA. I’ve been passionate about teaching math since my freshman year of high school, and over the years I’ve taught a wide range of topics across different areas of mathematics.

Outside of academics, I enjoy reading Chinese science fiction and war-themed novels, as well as playing strategy and puzzle-solving games. Most of all, I love helping students understand new concepts and seeing that “aha” moment—it’s one of the most rewarding parts of teaching for me.

Rylee

Instructor

Hi, I am Rylee Brewer. I am an Arizona native and a military kid! I currently attend UCLA, where I am majoring in Business Economics, and I am in the UCLA Paralegal program! In my free time, I love to read, hike, and play volleyball! I enjoy working at Mathnasium because I love helping the kids become more confident in themselves!

Jake

Instructor

Hi! My name is Jake and I’m a current senior at Culver City High School. Outside of school, I enjoy playing golf, following sports, and spending time with friends and family. I’ve always enjoyed math and working with numbers, which is one of the reasons I love working at Mathnasium. I especially enjoy helping students understand concepts they may be struggling with and seeing their confidence grow as they improve, as well as making personal connections with them.

Adrian

Instructor

Adrian is currently a senior at Venice high school. He has developed an interest in math and is inspired to teach others the way he has been taught, hoping to ignite the same spark and appreciation for math that he has discovered. One reason he loves working at Mathnasium is seeing a student’s mood change when they finally understand a concept and gain confidence in their abilities. In his free time he loves to play music, lift weights, and surf.

Evan A

Instructor

Hello, my name is Evan! I recently graduated from Pepperdine Graziadio Business School with a Master’s in Applied Finance. I’ve always had a strong interest in math, but what I especially enjoy is explaining concepts to students that may initially seem difficult. It’s rewarding to help students become more confident in their math abilities, and that's a big reason why I love working at Mathnasium. I like the challenge of figuring out how to explain concepts in a way that makes sense to each individual student. In my free time, I enjoy hiking, playing ping pong, and watching European soccer games.

Our Mathnasium Mission

Teach children math so they understand it, master it, and love it. Math can change their lives, and they can change the world.
