Isabella Pettner

Lead Instructor
My name is Isabella and I come to Mathnasium with a dual passion and dual experience in math education and fashion design. I was fortunate enough to work at a Mathnasium in Colorado during college before I began my next chapter in Wisconsin as a fashion designer for Kohl's. After getting engaged to my high school sweetheart, we both just recently moved to the Monrovia area and I am ecstatic to be able to now split my days fueling both of my passions! During each day at Mathnasium, I bring my blend of creativity and analytic thinking to working with our students. Nothing is more fulfilling than hearing that famous "a-ha" when a concept clicks - and the smile and confidence that comes with that. Thank you for trusting your students with me, I am honored to get to work with each one of them!

Maxwell Svonkin

What I love about Mathnasium: I have always loved math, and I love that I can help students foster their love of math as well. There is no better feeling than seeing people solve what once seemed like an impossible problem to them and realizing how far they've come in their learning.

Roula Nahouli

Lead Instructor
My name is Roula Nahouli, a mother of four children. Since childhood, mathematics has been my passion and obsession, and I have been fortunate enough to turn this passion into a fruitful career. I love interacting with children, as I see in them innocence and an opportunity to shape the future. Thanks to my extensive experience in dealing with children, I have acquired unique skills in communicating and interacting with them in an effective and enjoyable way. I am addicted to achieving perfection in everything I do, where there is no room for compromises for me. Either I succeed completely in what I do, or I leave the matter from its roots.
Alongside my love for intellectual challenges, I am thrilled by climbing in nature and swimming; finding in the sea a presence of tranquility and calmness that restores my balance. My family is a source of strength and pride for me. I am extremely grateful for the blessing of having my children in my life, and I cannot imagine my life without them. Thanks to God, I enjoy every moment spent with them, as they provide warmth that fills me with happiness and security.

Hassan Nahouli

Instructor
Hello! My name is Hassan Nahouli and I am currently a junior at Arcadia High School. When I’m not working on homework, I like playing basketball, which I’ve enjoyed my entire life. My favorite team is the Lakers!
When it comes to tutoring at Mathnasium, I am able to closely relate to many of the students as I was one of Mathnasium of Monrovia’s first students, and I was also in a position that enabled me to underestimate my capabilities. Having attended Mathnasium, however, I was able to develop into a position that no longer required me to fear math, which is what I hope to harbor among my students!

Maya Budiman

Instructor
My name is Maya and I am currently a senior at Arcadia High School. Working with students began to peak my interest during high school because of the sense of accomplishment I feel as I guide others through their struggles in learning. Other than that, getting to know the kids and their goofy personalities has made this job even more fulfilling.
In the duration of high school, I’ve taken teaching classes, tutored in my free time, and volunteered at countless elementary schools as an Interact member and club officer.
Apart from school, I’m a pescatarian and a cat-lover, and I love fitness! I’m a dark chocolate connoisseur, and jjamppong, poke bowls, Indian food, and jasmine green milk tea are my favorite things to feast on.
