We are thrilled to introduce our STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) Activities program, taking education to new heights. Our engaging and collaborative activities foster a love for learning and tackling challenges!

Our hands-on activities bridge theory and practice, nurturing critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Through teamwork and collaboration, your child will learn to communicate, cooperate, and appreciate diverse perspectives. Complementing math tutoring, our program showcases real-world applications, enhancing mathematical proficiency and sparking a lifelong passion for learning. Join us on this educational journey, shaping tomorrow's innovators and problem solvers!

Mathnasium STEAM Activities, Dates, and Times:

Ciphers and Cryptography - 6/22 - 12:30pm - 2pm

Cryptography is the study and practice of writing and solving codes. Students will learn the basics of cryptography by learning how to encrypt and decrypt messages using three different ciphers: the Pigpen Cipher, the Caesar Cipher, and the Vigenère Cipher.

Build a House for Ace - 7/6 - 12:30pm - 2pm

This activity is designed to give students an opportunity to explore measurement, engineering, construction, and careful planning. Each student will be given materials and an incomplete set of instructions to create a house for Ace, plus a completed example. They will use their rulers and reasoning skills to figure out what the missing measurements and instructions should be.

Spaghetti Tower - 7/20 - 12:30pm - 2pm

Students will construct a tower as tall as possible only using spaghetti and tape. Then, they will place one marshmallow on top of the tower. The tallest unassisted tower that supports the marshmallow wins.

Tessellation Art - 8/3 - 12:30pm - 2pm

Tessellation is a topic in geometry that asks, "How can we cover a surface in a pattern of polygons so that there are no gaps or overlaps?" In this activity, students will learn about regular tessellations—patterns made of only one polygon— and make art out of tessellating tiles they design themselves.

Make a Kite - 8/20 - 4pm - 5pm

Students will build a pyramid kite from scratch using tissue paper, straws, and string. Younger students will need kite templates pre-made and help tying knots, while older students will create their own templates and build the entire kite themselves.

Each Mathnasium STEAM Activity is $25. Use the form linked below to get signed up today. A $5 DISCOUNT per selected actvity will apply for any child already enrolled at Mathnasium!
