Our staff is built to teach each student individually, to develop the skills they need to thrive in mathematics, and to foster a love of learning.

Rose Solomon

Education Director

Rose has a B.A and an M.A in math from Boston University. Before becoming an education director, Rose spent two years as an instructor at the Newton Center. She loved Mathnasium’s teaching philosophies, and jumped at the change to join the team full time after her bachelors. Rose is passionate about curriculum development, and she loves creating new resources to deepen the student experience! In her free time, Rose pursues her hobbies of archery, and blacksmithing.

Scott Reding

General Manager

Scott has a B.A. from the University of Southern California and a master’s degree from New York University. Before coming to Mathnasium, Scott had already accumulated over ten years’ experience teaching and tutoring students of all ages, from first graders to undergrads. Scott’s favorite part of teaching math is providing a conceptual framework for new material and seeing the recognition in a student’s eyes as everything clicks into place.

Julie Lee

Director of Operations

Julie says that teaching math excites her the most when she sees students experience the “lightbulb moment” – the moment when students realize that math is beautiful and fun! She enjoys making relationships with her students and helping them find connections to math in their day-to-day activities. Julie was the first Education Director at West Newton, went to get her Master’s degree, and is now back!

Myrtha Chang

Franchise Owner
Myrtha has a Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin and a Master's degree in Information technology from M.I.T. After a rewarding career in consulting for Oracle Corporation, Myrtha launched the first Mathnasium Center in Massachusetts. As a Newton parent, she understands first-hand the high value families in the community put on education, especially in the area of Math, which will drive the majority of our children's careers. Myrtha grew up in Singapore and went through the Singapore Math curriculum. Before Mathnasium, Myrtha would resort to draconian methods such as making her daughter memorize the times tables along with a metronome before letting her eat. That was then. Today, one of the biggest difference about Mathnasium that Myrtha is proudest of is that kids like coming here. Because at Mathnasium, math makes sense, and the learning center environment is casual and fun.

Jane Gullason

Marketing Director

Jane started as an instructor all the way in Long Island, NY then joined us in Newton after starting her undergraduate degree in Business and Economics with Northeastern University. To further motivate and engage our students at Mathnasium Jane puts together our monthly activity calendars. Always brings a smile to the center and has a contagious positive attitude. In her free time she teaches Yoga lessons since she got her certification.

Our Mathnasium Mission

Teach children math so they understand it, master it, and love it. Math can change their lives, and they can change the world.
