Our staff is built to teach each student individually, to develop the skills they need to thrive in mathematics, and to foster a love of learning.

Greg

Lead Instructor

Greg holds a degree in Mathematics from UC Santa Cruz and is currently pursuing a graduate degree in Business Analytics at San Francisco State University.

As an instructor, Greg enjoys inspiring curiosity and confidence in students while helping them develop strong math foundations. Outside of Mathnasium, he plays basketball and tennis and loves experimenting in the kitchen.

Jem

Lead Instructor

Jem is a biology student at San Francisco State University, specializing in ecology, evolution, and conservation. They also work as a data analyst for a climate research lab.

Once unsure about math, Jem now uses it daily and enjoys helping students overcome similar doubts. In their free time, they enjoy reading, writing, and playing video games.

Curtis

Instructor

Curtis holds a B.A. in Mathematics from Pomona College and an M.A. in Mathematics from UCLA. He believes math doesn’t have to be hard, and loves guiding students toward those breakthrough “aha” moments. He has taught on and off for years, combining deep subject knowledge with a patient, encouraging teaching style. Before joining Mathnasium, Curtis began his career as a technology consultant in Australia, then returned to San Francisco to work in the startup space. In 2003, he co-founded a company focused on disrupting the property valuation industry, where he continues to apply his systems background to bring data science and business intelligence to the field. Outside of work, Curtis enjoys traveling to Scotland to play golf and exploring hidden gems and cheap eats around San Francisco.

Angeline

Instructor

Angeline is an undergraduate data science student who was born and raised in San Francisco. She has always enjoyed math, but her interest deepened after taking a few statistics classes and seeing how useful it can be in everyday life. Outside of class, Angeline enjoys exploring the city, listening to music, and trying out new boba spots with friends. As a tutor, she enjoys breaking down tricky concepts and helping students feel more comfortable and confident with math.

Edward

Instructor

Edward was born in Cleveland, Ohio, and grew up in Taiwan before deciding to settle in San Francisco. He originally studied International Business, but his passion for mathematics began during a financial engineering course in his senior year of college. Now, Edwards is taking upper-division courses at San Francisco State University as he works toward a master’s degree in Mathematics. Outside of teaching, Edward enjoys cooking, reading advanced math books, and weightlifting. He hopes to inspire students to see the beauty of mathematics and help them appreciate how much there is still to explore and discover.

Galen

Instructor

Galen is a student at UC San Diego, studying Mathematics and Computer Science. Currently on a gap year in San Francisco, he works at Mathnasium, where he enjoys helping students connect mathematical concepts and problems to the real world. Although he wasn’t always drawn to math, his appreciation for the subject grew throughout his education—thanks in part to a few excellent teachers—and he hopes to inspire that same appreciation in his students. In his free time, he enjoys running, reading, and hiking around the Bay Area.

Matteo

Instructor

Matteo was born in Dallas, Texas, but grew up in San Francisco, where he lives with his parents and sister. A senior at Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory, he enjoys history and math, subjects he has loved since childhood. Matteo takes pleasure in recognizing patterns, solving problems, and helping friends with their math homework. His passion for math and enthusiasm for working with kids led him to become an instructor at Mathnasium. Outside of school, he plays soccer for the San Francisco Glens, hikes at Pacific with his mom, and listens to music. He also speaks Italian with his grandma every day.

Zoe

Instructor

Zoé is a student at the International School of San Francisco. Originally from France, she moved to the U.S. five years ago. Her passion for math began during her time in the Mathnasium program, where she discovered that math could be both exciting and fun. That realization ignited her enthusiasm, and now she’s eager to pass that same excitement on to her students, hoping to inspire a love for math in them as well. Outside of teaching, Zoé enjoys drawing and practicing circus acrobatics, especially aerial silks.

Andre

Center Director

Andre is the Center Director at Mathnasium of Noe Valley. Before opening his Mathnasium center, Andre was the owner of a technology consulting group specializing in research, development, and implementation of Information Systems and Web products. Prior to that, Andre was a Senior Technology Analyst at InfoWorld Magazine/IDG, a weekly IT publication. Outside of Mathnasium Andre is somewhat obsessed with ice hockey - he is a fan, a hockey player, and a Board of Directors Member for San Francisco Youth Hockey Association. As if hockey obsession is not enough, he often attends music shows all over US, and spends time fantasizing about owning a garage full of classic muscle cars.

Our Mathnasium Mission
