Steven

Assistant Center Director

Steven has worked with Mathnasium as early as 2021 and loves helping students develop a strong understanding of math. He enjoys seeing concepts "click" and making learning an engaging experience. Currently pursuing a Computer Science degree at the University of Washington, Steven combines his technical skills with a passion for education. Outside of work and school, he enjoys playing games, watching movies, and exploring great food spots.

Lora

Lead Instructor
Lora grew up in the greater Seattle area. She is currently a second-year college student planning to pursue a career in the health sciences. She has years of experience working with kids. In her free time, she enjoys art, sports, and traveling. She loves seeing Mathnasium students gain confidence in math.

Bella

Instructor

Bella grew up in Southern California and moved to Seattle to attend the University of Washington. She is currently finishing her fourth year as a chemical engineering student and will graduate this spring. After graduation, she plans on pursuing a career in wastewater treatment. Before joining the team here at Mathnasium in 2024, she had two years of experience working with kids and a year of experience building early childhood development tools. In her free time, Bella enjoys snowboarding, making music, and hanging out with her cat. Her favorite part about working at Mathnasium is helping show kids that math doesn't have to be scary!

Mary

Instructor

Mary has experience working with kids across various subjects and has also tutored peers in high school. She loves building connections with students while helping them deepen their understanding of math. Currently a second-year student at the University of Washington, she is pursuing a degree in Data Science. In her free time, Mary enjoys playing games, watching esports, and experimenting with internet recipes.

Joe

Instructor
Hi! My name is Joe and I have been living in the greater Seattle area for the last 13 years. I graduated from The University of Washington with a degree in mechanical engineering in 2023, and I am now pursuing a career in education. In my free time I enjoy listening to music, playing soccer, and exploring the great outdoors of the Pacific Northwest! I am very excited to be working at Mathnasium at Northeast Seattle.

Kathryn

Instructor
Kathryn was born in Seattle but spent 6 years living in Hong Kong. She is currently a junior at University Prep. Kathryn has always been incredibly interested in math and finds a great joy in teaching others. Fueled by her passion in helping others, Kathryn wants to pursue a career in medicine in the future. In her free time, she loves playing the piano and baking.

Jared

Instructor

Jared has been a private guitar instructor for over 12 years and loves teaching children of all ages. In that time, he's played shows all over the country and even had the opportunity to play overseas in Europe as well as in Australia and New Zealand. A couple years back, he decided to change his focus from music to science and mathematics, fueled by a new curiosity about our natural universe. He is currently pursuing a degree in physics and mathematics, and hopes to share the curiosity and passion for science and learning with the next generation.

Albert

Instructor
Albert is from South Korea and is a rising junior at the University of Washington studying chemistry and biology, and pursuing a career in the medical field. He has had multiple math and science tutoring experiences with students from primary school to high school. He loves soccer, swimming, and skiing. He enjoys teaching math at Mathnasium, and is hoping to teach more kids!

Kate

Instructor
Kate is from Gig Harbor, WA, and is currently a second year at University of Washington. She is studying Applied Math with a minor in music. She enjoys teaching kids and helping them understand math concepts. In her free time she loves to read, play violin and watercolor.

Jonathan

Instructor
Jonathan has been living in the Seattle area for the past five years. Currently, he's studying both Math and Applied Math as a second-year student at the University of Washington. He's been passionate about mathematics since a young age, and in particular loves finding the best ways to understand and explain difficult concepts. In his free time, Jonathan enjoys reading and studying Japanese.

Tim

Director, Mathnasium @Home
Tim was born and raised in Spokane, Washington, and moved to Puyallup after getting married in 2020. He holds both a BA and MS in Mathematics from Eastern Washington University where he also loved being a math instructor for 10 years. Seeing students of any age have that light bulb moment when the concept they've been working on finally clicks fully for them is what Tim lives for. In his spare time he enjoys playing guitar and singing for friends as well as acting and singing in community theatre productions.
