Janki Shah
Owner
Janki, from a very young age, wanted to pursue a career in which she could become an instrument in developing a positive outlook in a person’s life. The lyrics from Whitney Houston’s song, “Greatest Love of All,” “I believe that children are our future. Teach them well and let them lead the way. Show them all the beauty they possess inside” resonated within her. It had become an inspiration to become a teacher and play an important role in a child’s education. Janki graduated from The College of New Jersey with a degree in Special Education, and has worked in various schools with students of all ages over the past decade. As she began her own family, she had decided to spend a few years as her children’s’ first teacher. Though she spent the past few years at home, her passion for teaching never died. Her love for kids guided her passion for teaching, and her passion for wanting to make a difference in a child’s life motivated her to become part of the Mathnasium family in the August of 2013. As a teacher, she strongly believes in teaching students in a way that makes sense to them and teaching for understanding, which is why she fell in love with Mathnasium. Mathnasium’s philosophy, “We make math make sense” and Mathnasium method (a very individualized curriculum taught in a multi-disciplinary approach) is exactly what any teacher would be drawn to. Janki wanted to do what she loved the most, teach children, and thus led her to become the owner of Mathnasium of North Edison where she can impact one child at a time.
