Our staff is built to teach each student individually, to develop the skills they need to thrive in mathematics, and to foster a love of learning.

Karen Lossing

Executive Director

Karen began her career in education in 2004, earning her master's degree and teaching certificate before working as a classroom teacher and math curriculum interventionist for McKinney ISD and Prosper ISD. She opened her first Mathnasium franchise in 2013.

Karen has served on the Mathnasium Franchise Advisory Committee and received the Artichoke Award, the Franchise Business Rockstar award, and the Exceptional People Award. Her centers have been recognized as top-performing locations for several years running.

Evan Lossing

Director of Human Resources

Evan joined Mathnasium in 2013 as an instructor and went on to earn his bachelor's degree in Business Management from Texas Tech University. His own experience overcoming math challenges early in school shapes how he supports students and families today.

As Director of Human Resources, Evan hosts weekly trainings and has built continuing education programs for the team. His work caught the attention of Mathnasium headquarters, where he was invited to contribute to national training programs across the franchise network.

Youngkun Weiss

Director of Operations

Youngkun studied Pure Mathematics and secondary education at UC San Diego and has been involved in math tutoring and education since 2013. He joined Mathnasium as an instructor in 2015 and became Center Director by late 2017 before being promoted to Director of Operations in 2023.

Youngkun oversees centers across San Diego, Phoenix, Denver, Dallas, and Cincinnati. A strong advocate for the Mathnasium Method™, he is committed to helping every student approach math with confidence and building an environment where learning feels positive and empowering.

Steven Lossing

Executive Director

Steve co-owns multiple Mathnasium Learning Centers alongside his wife Karen and their children Libby and Evan. Before joining the family's Mathnasium network, he served as Chief Stores Officer at Petco and as Treasurer and Board Member of the Petco Foundation.

Steve believes Mathnasium builds more than math skills: it builds self-confidence. He is proud to be part of a team that helps students catch up, keep up, and get ahead through personalized instruction and a teaching approach that makes math make sense.

Our Mathnasium Mission

Teach children math so they understand it, master it, and love it. Math can change their lives, and they can change the world.
