Julie is the Co-Owner of Mathnasium of Northwest Seattle. She holds an MBA from the University of Washington Michael G. Foster School of Business and a BA in International Affairs from Lewis & Clark College. Previously, she has worked in global health, consulting, telecommunications, education, and public policy. She currently serves on the Board of Directors for Terrewode Women's Fund supporting maternal health initiatives in Uganda. Passionate about math, Julie is committed to helping students strengthen their skills and gain confidence along the way.
Mia is a senior at Ballard High School with aspirations of teaching. With a habit of taking several math courses at once, her passion has her on the road to mastering as much mathematics as she can. She has always been inspired by her amazing teachers and is thrilled to share the enthusiasm they gave her with the students at Mathnasium. Her hope is to give kids the tools they need to be confident and independent in the subject. Outside of math, Mia enjoys drawing, writing, and playing the guitar.
Eric is a graduate student enrolled in the Applied and Computational Mathematics master's program at the University of Washington. He moved to Seattle from Madison, Wisconsin, where he completed his bachelor's degree in mathematics, physics, and data science, while working at Mathnasiums located there. Before working at Mathnasium, Eric spent 5 years as a summer sports camp director, where he taught kids many of the sports he loves. He has an unabashed love for all things math and physics, and he aspires to be a lifelong mathematician. His experiences at Mathnasium have fostered a passion for teaching and sharing his love of math with others. When Eric is not spending time solving problems or teaching students, he is usually at his home in Ballard, practicing guitar, listening to music, playing games, or learning something new.
Melissa holds a bachelor's degree in math from Carleton College. She spent the past 6 years working as a data scientist in supply chain organizations and loves sharing with students her passion for solving real-world problems using math. When not working at Mathnasium, Melissa teaches art and enjoys spending time outside biking, skiing, and sailing. Helping students have a great day at Mathnasium makes Melissa have a great day!
Lila is a junior at Lincoln High School. As a graduate of Mathnasium of Northwest Seattle, she firmly believes in the curriculum and hopes to pass her love of math on to others. In addition to math, Lila loves chemistry and problem solving and hopes to pursue a career in a science or engineering field. Lila has worked with kids as a camp counselor and dance teacher in addition to being a math instructor. Outside of work, Lila loves to take dance classes, go thrifting, and eat great food.

Ruby James is a student at Ballard High School and North Seattle College. She aspires to be an astronaut and pursue a career in astronomy and engineering. She loves working with children and has many years of experience teaching and coaching. She enjoys math and loves sharing that with her students. Outside of work, Ruby James enjoys sports like waterpolo, ultimate frisbee and dance. She reads a lot and loves fostering kittens in her free time.
