Our staff is built to teach each student individually, to develop the skills they need to thrive in mathematics, and to foster a love of learning.

Henry Fowler

Lead Instructor

Henry was recently employed at Immaculate Heart of Mary as a long-term substitute teacher. While there, he learned he had a skill for teaching math. He is currently taking classes at Delaware Technical Community College to earn his degree in Secondary Math Education. He is dedicated to providing a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes as part of the learning process. In Henry’s spare time, he enjoys watching all the Star Wars movies and TV shows and watching baseball. Go Phillies!

Beverly Lewis

Lead Instructor
Beverly worked with grades 6, 7, and 8 for Southeast Delco School District; teaching algebra, pre-algebra, and general mathematics. Her Bachelor of Science in Mathematics is from Millersville University and her Master of Education degree is from Widener. After retirement from the public sector, Beverly missed teaching and student interaction. She has now found these at Mathnasium along with an excellent curriculum.

Melissa Jones

Instructor

Melissa works at the University of Delaware as an advisor for the Hospitality Department. She completed her MBA with a major in Strategic Leadership in the summer of 2024. Melissa has a passion for helping others and has always enjoyed math. Mathnasium brings these two passions together! Melissa has been dancing for 20 years in multiple styles and has performed in multiple states, as well as Costa Rica. Outside of the performing arts, Melissa enjoys cooking, baking, and crocheting.

Peggie Weader

Instructor

Peggie recently retired after 27 years as a math teacher. Most of this was in the USA. But she also learned French so that she could teach Math in West Africa, a long time ago. Her undergraduate degree is in Mathematics from Harwick College in Oneonta, New York. She has two Masters degrees in Secondary Math Education and Applied Educational Technology. Peggie thinks the most important part of teaching math is helping students overcome the stigma associated with it. Too many students say that they “can’t do math.” Of course they can and Peggie can show them how!

Dan Dougherty

Instructor

Dan's love for mathematics started during his studies in mechanical engineering in college at Deltech where he later taught and tutored math. After teaching for about 5 years, Dan went into construction but he always had a desire to teach again. In 2023, Dan became an instructor at Mathnasium where he continues his passion for math and education to this day. When he’s not teaching at Mathnasium, Dan enjoys playing board games with friends and participating in his lodge as an Oddfellow.

Shreya Bose

Instructor
Shreya is a student at Garnet Valley High School and is interested in pursuing a higher education in astronomy, mathematics, and physics. In her spare time, Shreya loves to volunteer for Amnesty International and The Bengali Association of Delaware Valley. Her extracurricular activities include competitive dance, playing violin in the orchestra, participating in Science Olympiad, and tennis. Shreya loves sharing her knowledge of mathematics and enthusiasm for the subject with others.

Seemy Hodge

Our Mathnasium Mission

Teach children math so they understand it, master it, and love it. Math can change their lives, and they can change the world.

What I love about Mathnasium is the ability to teach problem-solving skills and make math make sense, while also making a student smile.
