Our Team at Mathnasium of Northwood

Erik Manzano

Erik has been with the Mathnasium Team since August 2017. He moved to Orange County in 2013 and earned a Bachelor's Degree from UC Irvine. Erik has always had a passion for teaching mathematics, from Peer Tutoring in high school to assisting fellow students throughout university. He enjoys helping students develop their math skills and prepare for the next step in their educational journey. Outside of Mathnasium, Erik enjoys spending time with friends and family, watching baseball, eating at the many restaurants throughout Orange County, and participating in outdoor activities.

Richard

Richard graduated from UCR with an MBA focus on Marketing and held a Bachelor's in Business Administration and Physics. As a former TA in marketing and management math at UCR, his ultimate goal is to help students build a strong math foundation while fostering an engaging learning environment. In his free time, he enjoys traveling, reading, and working out.

Reanna

Anna holds a B.S. in Wildlife Biology, and has always been passionate about math and science. She has been working with kids since she was a young teenager. Whether it was babysitting or volunteering at church for childcare, she always took the opportunity to help kids learn. She has experience as a para-educator working with students with special needs, ranging from mild accommodations to extensive support needs. Since discovering her passion for education, her long-term goal now is to be a wildlife educator for children. Some of her hobbies include hiking, board games, reading, crochet, and film. 

Ryan

Ryan is a computer science student and game designer. Ryan has been tutoring for 7 years in many subjects and he has 2 years of previous Mathnasium experience. Ryan has worked with students of all ages and finds the most rewarding part of teaching to be the smile on the students faces when they finally understand a topic. During his free time Ryan hangs out with friends, makes and plays video games.

Tristan

Tristan is a Senior at the University of California, Irvine, pursuing a B.S. in Earth System Science. As a high school student, He developed his passion for teaching as a Taekwondo instructor. In his free time he loves to play video games, lift weights and cook.

Sadie

Sadie graduated from Vassar College in New York with a BS in Biology, with an emphasis in Animal Science. She has many family members who work with children, so she developed a deep appreciation for children and their unique personalities and ways of learning. She has tutored in many subjects since high school, and loves to help students grow more confidence in themselves. In the future, she plans to attend veterinary school abroad and receive a DVM. In her free time, she loves going to the beach, reading, going to festivals, and working with animals.

Nathaniel

Nathaniel is currently getting his Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering. Nathaniel’s career with math began at a very early age with his grandma who forced him to practice everyday. At the start it wasn’t very fun, however throughout the years he began to love and cherish the beauty of math and its undeniable importance. He is grateful for the skills he has obtained and hopes to pass it on to the children as well as show them how amazing math truly is. Some fun facts about Nathaniel are that he worked as an electrician, can speak Hungarian, and loves old electronics. When he is not working he loves swimming, weightlifting and reading.

Ethan

Ethan is a student at UCI studying quantitative economics and accounting. His favorite part about teaching math is helping students understand math that they thought was difficult. In his free time, Ethan likes to watch football and play lacrosse.

Ian

I am a 4th year Biological Science Major at UC Irvine. I have grown to enjoy teaching students, whether that be homework help sessions in high school and organic chemistry tutoring in college, helping students understand concepts has been a pleasure of mine. In my free time I like to cook, bowl, and lift weights.

Sofia

Hi, my name is Sofia! I recently graduated from UC Irvine with a Bachelor's degree in Public Health Policy and plan to attend Cal State Fullerton to pursue a Master of Business Administration. Some things I like to do in my free time are photography, shopping, traveling, and golf.

Aditya

Aditya graduated from the University of California, Irvine with a degree in Mathematics and a minor in Statistics. Aditya has developed a passion for teaching ever since tutoring calculus part time during college. He now finds joy in teaching younger students and helping them take their first steps towards a strong foundation in mathematics. In his free time, he loves to play video games with his brother, explore hiking trails and spend time with his family.

Hana

Hana is a Biochemistry and Molecular Biology student at Chapman University pursuing a career in genetic counseling. Her favorite part about teaching math is seeing students grow confident in their own skills. In her free time, she enjoys going to cafes around Orange County and playing pickleball with her friends.

Ethan I.

Ethan is in his 3rd year at UCI working towards a BS in biomedical engineering. Early on, Ethan always loved math because of its unique applicability to many of his favorite fields, from sports and medicine to video games and physics. During high school, he realized the joy and satisfaction in helping his peers, whether it was at football practice or in the math and physics classrooms. He believes imparting knowledge to promote students’ growth is one of the most fulfilling things we can do with our experiences and understanding. Aside from tutoring, Ethan enjoys football, basketball, video games, going out to movies or concerts and eating good food with friends. 

James K.

James graduated from Carnegie Mellon University with a B.A. in Economics and is currently pursuing a J.D. at Western State College of Law as a second year. He has had a passion for the STEMs ever since he was a kid and has always enjoyed that with others. He has experience from lots of different instructor jobs from teaching martial arts in high school to computer science in college. He is super excited to apply the skills he has accumulated over the years to help local students and make the learning process more fun! In his free time he enjoys exercising, trying new foods, and spending time with friends and family.

Olivia

Olivia is currently a senior at Irvine High School. Her previous volunteering experience tutoring kids at a local library fostered her love for teaching. Combining her love for STEM and teaching, Olivia decided to be an Instructor at Mathnasium to inspire kids to grow their interests in mathematics. During her free time, Olivia enjoys painting, baking, and reading novels. 

James Y.

James graduated from UC Davis in 2026 with a bachelor’s degree in biology. Throughout high school and college, he developed a love for math, and today he hopes to pass that on to the next generation. In his free time, he enjoys playing sports, eating delicious food, and watching movies

Richard C.

Richard graduated with his bachelors from UCLA and his masters from CSULB, both in Mathematics. He loves doing mathematics and sharing that passion with others through teaching. He has experience helping students with mathematics and physics in everything from elementary to college level courses. He enjoys hiking, reading, and working on research level mathematics! 

Audrey

Hi! My name is Audrey and I am currently a second year college student who is studying Business Economics. I've always loved working with numbers and mathematics, as I find it to be like a puzzle or mind game. My favorite part about teaching math is being able to help kids realize that questions are not as difficult as they look, but rather can be entertaining and a good challenge! In my free time, I enjoy going out with friends, trying new foods and drinks, and listening to music.

Jack

Jack Hunzinger is a sophomore at UC Irvine studying Environmental Engineering. Jack’s passion for tutoring began at an early age, helping peers during free time in class, and developed as he grew older, bringing new opportunities to help his friends succeed. He uses the strategies that either helped him growing up or that he wished he had to help students fulfill their potential. In his free time, Jack likes writing music, getting boba with his friends, and researching random political/social/economic topics that interest him.
